The first two batches of Duvel Tripel Hop were brewed with Saaz-Saaz, Styrian Golding and Amarillo. From now on Duvel Tripel Hop will have a different hop every year that will be added in the brewing process as well as being used for dry hopping. For 2012 this hop is Citra.

Editor’s note: clearly distinguishable, in a circle on the label it reads "Dry Hopped with Citra 2012 Selection"

Buona birra con caratteristiche simili a una IPA. Inizialmente ha un sapore agrumato decisamente forte che però alla lunga risulta piuttosto piacevole. Mi aspettavo un aroma leggermente più particolare, ma tutto sommato è più che accettabile.

Another nice beer today! Bottle. Pours clear pale golden with a huge white head that very slowly dissipates but eventually leaves nice lacing. Aroma is yeasty, fruity, grapefruit. Flavor is about the same, lightly sweet and lightly bitter. Very nice beer.

Bottle sample, a little hazy gold colour, medium bubbley head, aroma of pomello, some mango and passion fruit with some pine in the back, flavour of pine with some herbal tea and a hint of tropical fruits in the back, very strong sourness and a light bitterness, the base beer feels the same as the Duvel Single. Great aroma but the flavour a real letdown.

330ml bottle from IPB.
Appearance : Clear pale yellow with medium foamy white head. Some lacing.
Aroma : Belgian yeast with light spices and light malt. Some herbal and slightly citrusy notes. Very light cat piss notes.
Taste : Herbal and floral hops with belgian yeast and pight spices. Finish herbal and floral with yeast and malt. Light citrusy notes. Some bitterness on finish with herbal and floral notes. Light alcohol on finish.
Palate : Carbonation is very fizzy which lifts the body to something medium-thin.
Overall : The original Duvel is still there and the Citra dry-hop is not in your face as some of us hop-heads could expect but it mixes well with the beer without overwhelming it. I think it adds some depth in a beer that is inherently rather complex. I don’t know how old this was but I suspect it’s not super fresh so it’s possible that the dry-hopping was more prominent back then.

Bottle @ benzai’s new place. Slightly hazy pale yellow with a big white head. Smells hoppy, fruity, grapefruit.. Amazing smell. Tastes hoppy, grapefruit, fresh.. Great taste. I’m not a duvel fan, but this is quite good. Full body, great carbo.
