COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The first two batches of Duvel Tripel Hop were brewed with Saaz-Saaz, Styrian Golding and Amarillo. From now on Duvel Tripel Hop will have a different hop every year that will be added in the brewing process as well as being used for dry hopping. For 2012 this hop is Citra.

Editorís note: clearly distinguishable, in a circle on the label it reads "Dry Hopped with Citra 2012 Selection"

stravale (2258) - Near Carrick-on-Shannon, IRELAND - NOV 16, 2012
Bottle from Appalachian Wines, Edinburgh 151112
Very light lemon yellow, hazy, big frothy white head
Aroma - Zesty citrus hops, touch of spicy hops, background of sweet pale malts, less complex than normal Duvel
Taste - Bitter grapefruit citrus hops, hint of belgian yeast, soft sweet pale malts, tangy but the hops knock out some of the subtle flavours in Duvel making it less complex
Palate - medium carb and body, quite oily, fairly acidic palate. Finish as main flavour, citrus zest hops, citrus oils. There is somewhat bitter acidic astringency note here.
Overall - Itís a good beer, but the strong citrus hops mask the subtle complexity of Duvel and adds some citrus acidity.

Bottle. Pale blonde. Floral aroma with lots of lemon. Floral, slightly perfumed lemony flavor. Almost as dry as the standard Duvel, but with limoncella and Poire William notes. Iím impressed.

Light 10 karat pour with straw and hay highlights and an ivory head filled with massive bubbles. Nothing tightly packed here, but the foam grows exponentially after every pour. Green, leafy citrus and grapefruit nose. A little dusty as well. Flavor shows evergreen, bright citrus rind, peel, and zest. Very oily. Raw. Grassy and earthy. Surprised by the 9.5% ABV. Good but not great.

Super bier, citrus hop smaakt er subliem in . Veel beter dan die van vorigjaar . Puur belgische bier .

Je proeft dat het duvel is! Maar hij valt wel tegen als je de duvel tripel hop van 2011 hebt geproeft! Citra hop overheerst!!

0,33l bottle from CsakajůsŲr, Budapest. A bit cloudy, pale yellow color with medium frothy head. Interesting odor, itís like an IPAís. Intensive pine and citrus. The aroma is also strong and intensive. Harsh piney flavour, real lemon aroma which "attacks" at the beginning. Very delicious, hopfans gonna love it. But as this hoppy beginning decays, a big alcohol flavour appears. Itís a nice one. Medium bitter taste. Medium to full body, fizzy carbonation, creamy texture. Dry, hoppy finish. This is a very intereting one. Itís very different from the classic Duvel, and for me itís better. Itís called Belgian Strong Ale, but Iíd rather say, that itís a Belgian Imperial IPA. The citrus aroma is very intersting, it tastes like it is served with real lemon juice. Gooood one!

Bottle: Hazy, pale golden, visible carbonation, stable medium-sized creamy head, moderate to solid fruity, mainly citrussy nose; moderate to solid sweet-bitter flavouf, soft; slightly lingering citrussy-bitter finish, accompanied by a little tartness. Good, good, but a bit too citrussy...

(bottle) pours a slightly hazy yellow colour with a huge frothy white head. aroma of herbal hops, pepper, oranges and light earth, quite spicy, with heavy notes of blackcurrant. flavour is less fruity, pale malts and straw are dominant, with lots of herbal hops, earth and a dry, almost medicinal finish. medium-bodied with fizzy carbonation.

Bottle. Light golden, hazy, average to large and mostly diminishing head. Moderate, malty - wheaty and sweetish aroma, light caramel, fruitiness and light sourness, some citrus and light spiciness (coriander - light pepper). Body is medium, malty Ė some wheat and sweetish, light caramel, fruitiness and light sourness, light citrus and light spiciness. Finish is average, malty Ė some wheat and lightly sweetish, light caramel, fruitiness and light sourness, some citrus and light spiciness with light alcohol. Fruity and sweetish Belgian strong ale - fruitiness and light sourness (and light caramel) just do not work with this Citra hoppyness. Interesting, but not so enjoyable.
