3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
330 ml bottle. L4124 2028. BB 01/2015. From bierzwerg.de.
Cloudy yellow colour with a tiny white head.
Earth, hops, mild vomit, mild citrus, marmalade and some sweetness in the aroma. The flavour is citrusy hoppy. Mild tartness, mild sweetness, banana and touch of alcohol. Very tasty. Nice.

4.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
THOUGHTS: Still hard to believe a beer this light in color is so full of flavor and has such a high ABV which is barely noticeable in the flavor. Incredible beer. I really hops this one come back. Way better than the classic original. Further proof of the capabilities of the citra hops. Hid alcohol unbelievably well.
TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a sparkling, golden yellow with a huge, white head that mostly but slowly diminished. The aroma had moderate grain, cracker and pale malt; heavy tropical fruit hops; moderate resinous hops; and light citrus, lemon and pineapple hops; and moderate funky yeast. The initial flavor was lightly sweet and bitter, and moderately acidic; while the finish was moderately sweet and acidic, and heavily bitter with an average to long duration. There was cracker, pale malt, tropical fruit hops, slightly resinous hops, light funky yeast, light citrus hops, lemon and pineapple. The light to medium body was very dry with fizzy carbonation and a slightly metallic and astringent finish.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
In short: A nice pillowy belgian pale ale with refreshing fruity hopping. Excellent.
How: Bottle 330ml, consumed as fresh as I could get it but already 6 months old. Still almost 2 years before expiration date.
The look: Cloud yellow body topped by a large white head with medium retention and leaving lots of lacings on the glass.
In long: The strong and inviting nose is tropical fruits, some citrus fruits, a light spiciness over a sensation of smelling a freshly baked baguette. And yes, a bit of cat urine too, but that’s just what Citra often does to me. Taste has a cake-like maltiness and when mixed with the fruity hops they create an upside down pineapple cake flavor. Also cookie dough, white grapefruits, a certain yeast-related spiciness, pleasant yeast presence, only sparse residual sugars (feels less sweet than the regular Duvel). Wonderful full pillowy mouthfeel with amble carbonation of soft bubbles. Mild on the bitterness yet full of hop-related flavors. I prefer this more refreshing version over the classic Duvel. This was an unexpected pleasant surprise, as much of a pleasant surprise as when I bought a Girls Gone Wild DVD thinking it would be girls running in a forest and eating ants.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Usual 330ml bottle: BBD of 02 2015, poured into a Duvel glass at home on 23rd 06 2013.
Looks great in the glass, golden, bright and clear: huge white foaming head with large carbonisation bubbles rising up to replenish it.
Grapefruit flavours rule the nose and taste: really strong and heavy. However the alcohol can also be noticed within the taste. Not too well balanced, the malts hardly getting a look in, but if you are crazy about Citra hops this is the beer for you (I’m not a Citra fan really).
Crisp, refreshing and grapefruity throughout.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Appearance: Clear pale golden color with a big frothy white head that leaves a fine lacing.
Aroma: A really dominating citrus aroma.
Palate: Medium + body. Moderate sweet, and a rich bitterness. Rich carbonation.
Taste: A really heavy dominating citrus flavor that kill everything else. Well hidden alcohol…..after a while in the glass it became a lot better. The overkill citrus stuff vanished. Then more citric. Mild malty. Some spices.
Overall impression: Fresh and easy drinkable considering the high alcohol amount.
Personal stats: Bottle from a trade with Grima.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Hazy golden with a small white head. Citra hops dominate the aroma, with lots of fresh lime, and ripe tropical fruits, along with a touch of bready malt. Sweetish fruity flavour with lots of citrus and a herbal hoppy finish. A bit straightforward, like a citra pale ale lacking the Belgian touch
