The first two batches of Duvel Tripel Hop were brewed with Saaz-Saaz, Styrian Golding and Amarillo. From now on Duvel Tripel Hop will have a different hop every year that will be added in the brewing process as well as being used for dry hopping. For 2012 this hop is Citra.

Editorís note: clearly distinguishable, in a circle on the label it reads "Dry Hopped with Citra 2012 Selection"

Bottle sample at Beer and Beyond, Tel Aviv. Aroma of citrusy hops, notes of ripe pear and honey with some graininess. Sweet honey flavor, very fruity (pear, grapefruit), honey-ish, grainy and winey, light hoppy bitterness in the finish, semi-dry. Moderate carbonation, medium-bodied. A bit old but still very nice.

75cl bottle shared at home. Hazy yellow/golden with a medium white soapy head. Medium body with moderate carbonation. Nice bitter tones with subtle sweetness. Citrus, yeast, hay, herbs and orange. Quite tasty, even after three years. Liked this a lot.

Golden with a large white foam. Aromas are floral with yeast and lots of tropical fruit. Locket lozenges with base biscuit and medicinal notes. Flavours are mixed tropical fruit with salt and leafy hops. Yeast with bitter lemon and pepper on the finish.

Bottle from Auchan Market, Luxembourg City!
Pours strong golden yellow with high, white head. Smell has orange, citrus and grapefruit. Starts hoppy bitter, lovely fruity, lots of orange peel and grapefruit, also some mango. Goes into a fruity and spicy finish, again with lots of orange peel. Nice one, even if I donít like the usual Duvel...

madvike (3192) - Middleton, Wisconsin, USA - DEC 22, 2014
Bottle - Pours clear yellow with a thin white head. Nose is a little garlic and onion, dry and boozy with a little citrus. Taste is real dry, astringent, boozy, with light citrus peel. Just sharp, with a little garlic on the finish. Medium-thin body and fluffy.

UPDATED: DEC 16, 2014 330ml bottle served in a snifter glass. A: Pours the traditional pale yellow and bit cloudy color forming a huge bubble, creamy and soapy white head. Infinite retention and lots of soapy lacings formed and left in the glass S: Smell is just perfect. A bomb of flowery and citrus hops. Itís really amazing how the can conserve such a hops freshness. I mean, this is a bottle of 2012 being consumed in 2014. I know thatís not too much but, at same time, the hops freshness in the nose is really impressive. Strong notes of citrus and tropical fruits al well. To be mentioned; orange, grapefruit and passion fruit T: Sweet pale malts in upfront, followed by strong notes of citrus and tropical fruits like orange, grapefruit and mainly, passion fruit. In overall, a standard Duvel, which is dry and crispy. However, this version is a bit bitterer than the regular version. Alcohol is very well hidden here M: Medium to heavy body with good carbonation. Passion fruit aftertaste O: Great drinkability. The best Duvel Tripel hop Iíve ever had (compared with the Amarillo and Sorachi Ace versions). Citra is a bit overwhelming? Yes, it is but in a lovely way... ;) [ BA Review @ 2/19/2014 ]
