The first two batches of Duvel Tripel Hop were brewed with Saaz-Saaz, Styrian Golding and Amarillo. From now on Duvel Tripel Hop will have a different hop every year that will be added in the brewing process as well as being used for dry hopping. For 2012 this hop is Citra.

Editor’s note: clearly distinguishable, in a circle on the label it reads "Dry Hopped with Citra 2012 Selection"

750 ml. bottle shared for a fellow beer compatriot’s birthday at Lunar Brewing Co. Elegant and active pour to champagne flutes, displaying a hazed, golden hue, with billowy, white head froth, and thick, clingy suds for lacing. The aroma was floral & mild spice, light fruit & citrus as lemon, with a touch of Belgian yeast scent. Light bodied, effervescent, with subtle but effective alcohol presence. Decent hop bitterness lingered into the finish accompanied by a pleasant dryness. Very nice!

Hoppy version of the famous duvel (2012), hopped with citra hops. Aroma: citrus, alcohol. Taste: sweet and a bit sour, bitter aftertaste. Palate: effervescent, a lot of carbonation, warming. Must have tasted way better a year ago.

Hazy pale gold beer, good white head. Palate is light and airy. Mildly crisp from the fine carbonation. Big saaz hops, mildly grassy and with a little skunk. Nice balance with the citric hops. Lemony orange. In an ideal world more citra would have been good. Yeast. Bitterish floral note. Finishes semi dry. Overall, good stuff!

Bottle@Strandby. Yellow haze. Huge three finger well lasting foam. Intense citrus tropical mango notes. Great light body dry dry weightless mouthfell. I am in love with this edition of the Duvel and I am sure MJ would have liked it too. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Same as the Duvel, but a little more hoppy. Same goes for the quality, a little better.

330 ml bottle. L4124 2028. BB 01/2015. From bierzwerg.de.
Cloudy yellow colour with a tiny white head. Earth, hops, mild vomit, mild citrus, marmalade and some sweetness in the aroma. The flavour is citrusy hoppy. Mild tartness, mild sweetness, banana and touch of alcohol. Very tasty. Nice.

THOUGHTS: Still hard to believe a beer this light in color is so full of flavor and has such a high ABV which is barely noticeable in the flavor. Incredible beer. I really hops this one come back. Way better than the classic original. Further proof of the capabilities of the citra hops. Hid alcohol unbelievably well. TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a sparkling, golden yellow with a huge, white head that mostly but slowly diminished. The aroma had moderate grain, cracker and pale malt; heavy tropical fruit hops; moderate resinous hops; and light citrus, lemon and pineapple hops; and moderate funky yeast. The initial flavor was lightly sweet and bitter, and moderately acidic; while the finish was moderately sweet and acidic, and heavily bitter with an average to long duration. There was cracker, pale malt, tropical fruit hops, slightly resinous hops, light funky yeast, light citrus hops, lemon and pineapple. The light to medium body was very dry with fizzy carbonation and a slightly metallic and astringent finish.
