2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle - Pours clear yellow with a thin white head. Nose is a little garlic and onion, dry and boozy with a little citrus. Taste is real dry, astringent, boozy, with light citrus peel. Just sharp, with a little garlic on the finish. Medium-thin body and fluffy.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: DEC 16, 2014 330ml bottle served in a snifter glass.
A: Pours the traditional pale yellow and bit cloudy color forming a huge bubble, creamy and soapy white head. Infinite retention and lots of soapy lacings formed and left in the glass
S: Smell is just perfect. A bomb of flowery and citrus hops. It’s really amazing how the can conserve such a hops freshness. I mean, this is a bottle of 2012 being consumed in 2014. I know that’s not too much but, at same time, the hops freshness in the nose is really impressive. Strong notes of citrus and tropical fruits al well. To be mentioned; orange, grapefruit and passion fruit
T: Sweet pale malts in upfront, followed by strong notes of citrus and tropical fruits like orange, grapefruit and mainly, passion fruit. In overall, a standard Duvel, which is dry and crispy. However, this version is a bit bitterer than the regular version. Alcohol is very well hidden here
M: Medium to heavy body with good carbonation. Passion fruit aftertaste
O: Great drinkability. The best Duvel Tripel hop I’ve ever had (compared with the Amarillo and Sorachi Ace versions). Citra is a bit overwhelming? Yes, it is but in a lovely way... ;)

Iets zachter dan de gewone Duvel, valt wel mee, maar is niet een van men favorieten

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Hazy golden color with a large and great white head with good lasting and nice lacework. Aroma has notes of belgian yeast some citrus notes and moderate grassy notes. Flavor is very fresh, notes of yeast, citrus and some acidic notes, very fruity. Citrusy final with a moderate bitterness, slightly dry.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Transparent very light beer with a hay colour, nice head, some carbonation.
Coriander and basilicum on the nose with lots of lime, lemon and some subtle saltiness. Subtle caramel or maybe sweet fruitiness.
Taste is dry sweetish with again basilicum and lots of lime. Bitter astringent finish. What a delicious beer, can’t get it off my mind :-)

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
The body has a clear golden color on the first two glasses and a pale hazy golden color on the following glasses as the yeast unsettles from the bottom of the bottle. It also has a lot of wonderful champagne like carbonation streaming up to the tall frothy head. This head is white in color and thick. This makes for an excellent long lasting head that clings to the glass and leaves thick sticky lacing behind as I drink. In the nose I get the classic Duvel character with notes of fruity (pear/apple) and funky yeast blended with a bigger more complex hop character. There are nice delicate pilsner like floral hops mixed with spicy and herbaceous hop notes. A mild pine like note also comes and goes in the nose. Behind all of this is a noticeable but expected alcoholic presence. Its flavor matches the aroma perfectly and finishes with a solid dry bitterness slowly fading off the tongue. The firm medium body is lifted by the fine and quite active carbonation which helps to cleanse the palate and keep things light.

4.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
75cl fles via Être
Alcoholpercentage van 9,5%
Uitgeschonken in originele glas
In ieder geval heel lekker.

The Sorachi version is way better, however, again a good body, malty sweetness balanced with a citric bitterness
