COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The first two batches of Duvel Tripel Hop were brewed with Saaz-Saaz, Styrian Golding and Amarillo. From now on Duvel Tripel Hop will have a different hop every year that will be added in the brewing process as well as being used for dry hopping. For 2012 this hop is Citra.

Editor’s note: clearly distinguishable, in a circle on the label it reads "Dry Hopped with Citra 2012 Selection"

Bottle - 330ml. Hazy blond body with average carbonation and a decent white foamy head. Fresh hoppy aroma with herbal and bready hints. Alcohol is very well hidden. Its sharp hoppy taste carries herbal, coriander, and some subtle honeyish notes. Ends with a sharp, long, warming bitter/herbal finish. Very enjoyable all-season strong ale.

Poured with tons of head, golden clear color.... Not much of a nose, pretty bland taste too... Slightly disappointed

Cold bottle. Pale yellow, high carbonation, big enduring white head, lots of lacing. Looks great. Citra hops smell. Taste is peachy, fruit soda, lager and sparkling wine qualities. Flavour isn’t very intense. Easy drinking.

Bottle at Delirium Hoppy Loft, pours a hazy gold-tinted yellow with a large white head. Aroma of Belgian yeast, bready malts, British hops and some spice. Flavour of fresh Belgian yeast, spicy hops, cereal malts, some dough. Intensely flavourful and quite spicy and yeasty on the palate. Finish spicy and cerealy.

Bottle. Nose is classic citra, tropical fruits, peach, papaya, mango, lemon, undercut with a gentle yeast; beautiful. Apperance is classic duval. The taste underwhelms compared to the nose. Floral notes, a little lemon balm, duvel yeast, grasses, fading to malt and a short lime and grapefruit finish. Palate is very carbonated. Wonderful nose, but the flavours don’t carry the same weight, leaving a disjointed beer, which I think is inferior to standard duvel..

My Bottom Line:
There is plenty of hay to support the tropical fruit in this classy, dry and resinous interpretation of Duvel.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A tower of foam covers the misty pale straw yellow.
-Citra overpowers Saaz and Styrian Goldings in the flavor profile.
-Alcohol disappears from the flavor profile in the second half.
-The resinous hop bitterness is of the same medium intensity as the rest of the brew.
-Bubbles are big and vibrant. With the dryness, this makes for a festive mouthfeel, not too far from Champagne.

Bottle.

Scopey (3229) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAY 2, 2013
Bottle at The Anderson. It pours pale yellow with a thick white head. The nose is fresh floral, red grape, apple, passion fruit, straw and light spice. The taste is floral, white grape, zesty citrus, passion fruit, straw, light spice, touch of alcohol with a dry finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Pretty good stuff!
