330ml bottle. Typical golden pour with huge head, more hazed than the typical. Smell is bleach hops, and grain. Flavor is sweet, dry, grassy, that sorachi ace flavor. Not as bad as I was expecting, happy it was a 9.99 4 pk with a free glass.

Sample kindly shared by gunnar. Muddy yellow golden body with a white small head. Apples, lime, lime zest, coriander and yeast on the nose. Sweet and sour with plenty of citrus bitterness. Medium to full bodied. Long pleasant finish. A little alco warmth.

Aroma is kenmerkend citrus met kruidige noten. Smaak is bitter met vlagen sinaasappel.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Not really impressive, but still a honest beer coming from the tripel hop series. Pours pale yellow into the glass, with the characteristic head formation, champagne-like foam. Aroma has notes of citrus, cut grass and belgian yeast. Taste is quite bitter and a bit sour, with notes of white wine and wheat beer. Palate is light-bodied, fizzy in your tongue. Aftertaste is critusy and dry. Citra wins.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Atlanta bottle on the way to FL. Pours a clear yellow color with a big, white meringue head. Big aroma of green hops and lemony citrus. Big flavor from the Sorachi Ace that gives it a bite but only a faint, lingering bitterness. Interesting palate. Cool beer.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from Beers of Europe
Light blonde, fizzy, usual big white frothy white head
Aroma - Spicy hops, dab of belgian yeast coming through, citrus, bit peppery, slight cereal, some lemon, alcohol hardly noticeable, complex
Taste of sweet pale malts, soft yeast ester, spicy, some sharp zest hop, peppery, complex, really drinkable for the ABV
Palate - Moderate to high carb, surprisingly light body for the ABV, considerably sweet pale malts. Finish quite crisp, zesty peppery hop, alcohol comes through in the tail, fairy bitter linger
Overall - Complex beer...so easy to drink for 9.5%

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Tried Duvel Tripel Hop 2014 (Mosaic) bbf 07/2016 next to the 2013 edition (Sorachi Ace) with exp 06/2015 and the 2013 edition best before 12/2015.
Aroma: Next to the typical hop and citrus aromas, the 2013 edition smells more herbal and spicy than the 2014 edition. Freshly mown grass in the 2014.
Taste: well-balanced between bitter and sweet, citrus. I slightly prefer the 2013 over the 2014. The 2014 tastes fresher and cleaner than the 2013 one, but also less complex. It’s not a completely fair comparison because the 2013 release has had about a year of bottle aging; the effect is much less in the younger version of the 2013.
The 2012 Citra version remains my favorite. It appears that the newer the version, the more “mainstream” (less pronounced) they are becoming. Both the 2013 and 2014 are still very drinkable beers though.
