For this 2014 edition, our brewers have selected Mosaic. This new US hop variety enhances the beer with a tangerine sweetness, hints of tropical fruit and an interesting blueberry flavour.

W aromacie tripel, w smaku duzo bardziej amerykanskie ale. Aksamitne, slodko-gorzkie, slodowo-chmielowe - ladna rownowaga, choc zarazem obiecywalem sobie ciut wiecej

Bottle from Total Wine.

Mosaic, mosaic, mosaic. Am I the only person who’s sick to death of this hop? Every neckbeard in Portland has ticked a mosaic single hop in least 50 different ratebeer styles. And they all taste like a cat pissing garlic.

So now it’s Duvel’s turn. Somehow it’s a lot worse for Duvel to jump on the bandwagon than for the 29th brewery to open in Ballard this year to do so. Golden pour into one of my many chipped Duvel tulips (what else?) with a fluffy white head. Distinct mosaic nose, garlic and cat with a bit of citrus and tropical fruit underneath, supplemented with the distinct esters of Duvel yeast. The flavor is sweetish-up front, grassy bitterness late. The beer is a bit sticky, quite hot. I usually think that belgian IPAs suffer from hybrid inviability, and this is no exception. A regular Duvel would be a nicer, a clean mosaic IPA probably better as well.

tl;dr summary: Enough!

Golden in color, clear with a thin head. There was just too little hops in the beer but being a Belgian beer this was thick with yeast and interesting fruit like flavors.

That has that cat piss aroma at first wiff. I get some lime and citrus. Here is what Superspak says: " 330 ml bottle into signature tulip glass, best before 7/2016. Pours lightly hazy golden straw color with a 2-3 finger fairly dense and fluffy white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Spotty foamy lacing clings around the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big tangerine, mango, passion fruit, lemon zest, orange peel, pear, apple, pepper, pine, floral, grass, and herbal/yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good complexity and balance of citrus/tropical hops and fruity/spicy yeast ester notes; with good strength. Taste of big lemon zest, tangerine, orange peel, pear, apple, pepper, pine, floral, grass, bread, and herbal/yeast earthiness. Sizable amount of pine/spicy yeast bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of lemon zest, tangerine, orange peel, pear, apple, pepper, pine, floral, grass, bread, and herbal/yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Damn nice complexity and balance of citrus/earthy hops, fruity/spicy yeast, and light malt flavors; with a very crisp hop/yeast flavor balance with zero cloying flavors after the finish. High carbonation and light-medium bodied; with a very smooth ,crisp, and moderately prickly mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is well hidden with only a light warming present after the finish. Overall this is an excellent Belgian IPA. All around great complexity and balance of citrus/earthy hop, fruity/spicy yeast, and light-moderate malt flavors; and very smooth and crisp to sip on for the ABV. A very enjoyable offering." He gives it a Superspakie 4.1.

330 ml. bottle. It pours a nice clear light golden color with a decent foamy white head. Not as luxurious as regular Duvel. You can definitely get Mosaic in the aroma. It’s stronger than I expected it to be, but still not exactly a hop bomb. Dense fruitiness and light dank with hints of spice and earth. The flavor is more spicy with citric and tropical fruit underneath. Some berries and spice near the finish. High carbonation and a light alcohol sweetness. It’s pretty easy to drink despite the high ABV. This is actually pretty good stuff.

Bottled 330ml. -Courtesy of Yves (Visibaba Brewing), shared with Marko and him. Bright yellow coloured, medium sized airy white head, light lemon and black currant nose. Sweet malty, fruity (again lemon and black currant) and evident alcohol presence. Lingering bitter finish. Interesting.

Looks .. Golden yellow, medium head in duvel tulip. Smells..orange & grapefruit citrus, piney, even notes against a large light waffle malty scent. Tastes..mandarin/tangerine citrus, a bit grassy and piney bitterness with solid sweet waffle malts.

330cc bottle. Colour is hazy yellow with huge head. White and foamy. The hops dominate. A bit grapefruit, citrus and resins. Very fulfilling drink. Finishes kind of too bitter for me. A great beer though and very Duvel.
