For this 2014 edition, our brewers have selected Mosaic. This new US hop variety enhances the beer with a tangerine sweetness, hints of tropical fruit and an interesting blueberry flavour.

Now rebrewed as Tripel Hop no 4, nose has light caramel, hints of orange, mint and melon, dry-bitter and lightly fruity, peppery hoppiness, bitter-sweet finish.

Slight/medium aroma of malts, caramel, Belgian yeast, tropical fruit, hops and soap.

Hazy yellow/golden beer with a medium/large white head.

Starts medium sweet with malts, caramel, Belgian yeast and tropical fruit; ends slightly bitter with hops and soap.

Bottle. Clear golden/yellow with huge fluffy head (as on every Duvel). In aroma citrusy and flowery. In taste nice tangerine and peach mix. Light body, dry and lightly bitter finish. Alcohol well hidden. New wave hoppy Duvel should be in normal offer, this is that good.

Bottle acquired as part of a Christmas beer package from an aunt. I believe it was assembled at a Haskells. Consumed in my favorite Belgian glass straight from an amazing bar in Brussels. Kind of excited that it’s the 2014 variety to see if any aging has impacted the beer. Pours a hazy lighter golden color with a healthy does of frothy white head. Serves as a heads up that this one will sport a pretty nice lacing throughout consumption. The aroma is grassy with notes of citrus. Fairly light nose which surprised me. Taste is, for lack of a better word, tangy with notes of citrus like lemon and tangerine. Maybe a little bit of a floral quality. Plenty of alcohol making its presence felt especially in the aftertaste. Hoppy characteristics kind of lay in the weeds until the finish. Definitely seem to wake up as the beer warms up. Overall, I’m kind of disappointed. Would have liked to taste this one on tap rather than the bottle variety.

Crystal clear and bright golden offering a large well lasting fluffy white head. Aromas of citrussy, grassy and grapefruit zest with notes of cereal tdevelop. Also offers notes of tropical fruit like mandarine. Rather effervescent with a slick texture and a full yet elegant body. Light cereal-straw sweetness with a fruity hop bitterness. Rather lasting light dry bit astringent finish.

The nice belgian blonde Duvel is there in the base. Quite interesting to add a more hops . I prefer the regular Duvel i think...

Sampled from an 11.2 oz brown bottle this beer poured a vibrant dark golden color with an enormous fluffy white head that lingered and left decent lacing. The aroma was tart and effervescent with a yeast note, a bit of mustiness and a tangy citric hop presence. The flavor was tart, spritzy, tangy and citric with perfumey hops and a dry, musty and yeasty undertone. Medium length finish. Medium body. Decent.

Great beer with a heavy head, also after few minutes, I feel citrus with a small bitterness
