COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
For this 2014 edition, our brewers have selected Mosaic. This new US hop variety enhances the beer with a tangerine sweetness, hints of tropical fruit and an interesting blueberry flavour.

Nice take on a classic beer. The extra hop gives it a nice twitch but also makes it quite high on alcohol. Good beer to try if you like Duvel, but personally I didn’t find it worth trying again.

Looks .. Golden yellow, medium head in duvel tulip. Smells..orange & grapefruit citrus, piney, even notes against a large light waffle malty scent. Tastes..mandarin/tangerine citrus, a bit grassy and piney bitterness with solid sweet waffle malts.

330cc bottle. Colour is hazy yellow with huge head. White and foamy. The hops dominate. A bit grapefruit, citrus and resins. Very fulfilling drink. Finishes kind of too bitter for me. A great beer though and very Duvel.

Dorée forte, un houblon présent assez singulier et étonnant, mélange doux-amer particulier avec petit touche sèche, non agressive, très bonne. Bouteille achetée en grande surface, Noisy-le-Grand, France, bue le 12/12/2014.

What what in the $5 bottle to snifter. nose is fruity and tropical with a hint of spiciness and perfume. A subtle orange character comes across in the sniffer. pale yellow and damn clear with a large white head. laces extremely well. taste is blissfull. a combo of oranges and pepper with a touch of heaven. a subtle alcohol is noted, but not extreme for a 10% beer. yum a dum dum.

Working on my "cellar" of beers, and I’m running behind. Gotta clear those beers out before the move. Better to drink them than haul them. This is the last of the four-pack. Pours a slightly cloudy sunshine yellow with a generous serving of cloud-white head, which is really blocking the nose on this one (plus my slight cold doesn’t help.). Taste leaning dominated by hops, but more, bitter, resin flavours, with a little soap. I got a mention for this beer in my Booze Brother’s Freaky_tiki’s review (Two months ago, I’m that far behind.) But I have to say this beer feels to me be relying on more of the hopstastic North American tradition, than the subtle yeasty magic that the Belgians do better than anyone else. Plus, there are just some hops that bug me. Summit being one, and I suppose Mosaic on there too. Sadly this beer doesn’t jib with me, but that just means more for you guys.

Backlog rating. 33cl bottle. A very good blend of the two styles. This brew takes the most of its aroma from hops with some sweet yeasty notes too. A bit of funkiness. The taste is more on the abbey tripel side, with a predominant malty character. The sweetness anyway is well balanced by some hoppy bitterness. Alcohol is almost not perceivable. Medium bodied with good carbonation. Overall, very tasty and refreshing

Again, huge thanks to Yves! Misty pale yellow-golden body, as one would expect from Duvel, but a head that’s not as huge (medium), but was nicely thick and went away slowly. Immidiate lemon-blueberry blast in the aroma, wow! Balanced by a fine maltiness too. Perfumey blueberries & little lemon ending in nice, heavy bitterness, just a touch too much perhaps in the finish. It’s impressive, the 9.5% is well hidden, and it’s a great beer, which shames nearly every Double IPA that I’ve had in my life. But it’s not as good as the Sorachi Ace version was.

couleur jaune trouble; belle mousse blanche persistante; arômes fruités et de levure; goût fruité (citron) et un peu houblonné; finale douce-amère; un poil trop d’alcool pour moi

330ml bottle. Golden color with puffy white head. White grape and yeast aroma. Black pepper and the aforementioned are in the flavor. Enjoyable.

330ml bottle. First, I love standard Duvel, and this is no different. Pours a hazy pale yellow with a HUGE head of white foamy champagne like bubbles. The nose is hard to describe, but it’s definitely Duvel. Wet concrete, mineral notes, lemon peel, and a VERY pleasant hit of passion fruit, grapefruit, and a slightly resinous undertone. Up front it mostly the Duvel you know, mineral notes, citrus, honey, clove, black pepper but it leads into a mineral heavy fruity finish (peach, apricot, banana). It’s been a while since I’ve had a regular Duvel, but this may actually be an improvement. I’m glad it came in a four pack!
