HarvestrOfBeer (8), , Washington, USA does not count Nov 6, 2009 Nice slightly cloudy golden color, white head. I was surprised at the level of sourness and alcohol in this beer. Maybe the bottle I had was very young. Overall enjoyable, but not amazing. NJJereme (260), Saint Petersburg, Florida, USA Nov 4, 2009 Bottle. Pours an opaque golden color with a nice big, frothy head that hangs around for awhile. Aromas of clove, banana, and maybe a hint of anise, similar flavors. Light to medium bodied. Sweet with a tinge of bitterness on the end. Kestral (190), Oslo, Norway Nov 4, 2009 750ml bottle. Pours a bright, hazy yellow with a massive white head that stays forever. Aroma is very yeasty, apricot, citrus and other light fruits, spices, some alcohol. The flavour is clean and crisp, with the same notes the nose gave away. Alcohol is well hidden, yet gives off a noticeable warmth. Dangerously drinkable, could easily be sessioned but shouldn’t. Wolfbass (22), Firenze, Italy Nov 4, 2009 The color is gilded and the adherent, persistent and luxuriant foam. The aromas are potentially floral, but also the hop makes him notice with its freshness. In mouth it is marvelous with consistent body and frizzantino, to close with a dry and long end. thirdeye11 (402), Texas, USA Nov 3, 2009 ( 330ml bottle) pours clear golden with meringue-like head that never goes away. Nose of cherries, wood, Belgian yeast, and biscuit. Taste of light sour apple, tart fruits, light bittering hops, and ever some lager like crispness in the finish. Ends creamy and extremely well carbonated like a champagne. One of my favorite mass distro beers ever. MagisterLudi (5), Aarhus, Denmark does not count Nov 2, 2009 750 ML Bottle. A very well balanced ale with lots of taste. It completely hides it’s alchohol in all the pleasantness, which makes it both inviting and slightly risky as an afternoon beer after a hard days work. Snot19kilo (81), Oakwood, Illinois, USA Nov 2, 2009 Pours pale with a white thick head great lacing. Top not retention(head is around even after the beer is gone!) Aroma is fruity(banana, citrus) herbs, nuts with some yeast note in there. Fruity(apples, bananas and some citrus in the flavor also a slight earthy(nuts and some herb taste). Strong yeast in the flavor as well. Dry and bitter in the end. Great beer! will drink again. jamespgentry (18), Washington, USA Nov 2, 2009 I was craving a Duvel for weeks, finally bought a four pack, and promptly dealt with it. I was so relieved it was as good as remembered. Great fruity nose, amazing head that crumbles and depletes leaving bizarre craggy formations. Fruity, slightly banana heavy, flavors with a nice dry finish. Duvel might just become my new favorite summer beer, next summer that is. No gimmicks, just a great beer that’s not trying to be anything more than it is. My only complaint is that it looks like a Pabst.
