3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 b3shine (188) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - MAY 19, 2012
Bottle to oversized snifter. Looks good; light in color with ample head. Smells solid; funky and lagerish. Tastes good; like Heineken - only good. Mouthfeel is good too. Very nice. If I would have rated this a year ago, it’s score would likely be higher.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 laiti (1664) - Tampere, FINLAND - MAY 19, 2012
33 cl bottle @ home. Rated on 08.01.2011
Aroma is somewhat fruity with some yeast and hints of grassy hops. Flavour is rather rich with Belgian yeast, fruits and hints of bubblegum. Palate is too high on CO2 as expected, must not be enjoyed from a glass that does not have CO engravings at bottom. A classic Belgian Blonde – and rather close to some Saisons.
4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 adamjackson (274) - Canaan, New Hampshire, USA - MAY 18, 2012
Had this many times. Never reviewed it. Cellar temp of 55. I bought this in November and am just now drinking it. I know Duvel isn’t known to age but what the hell. 750ML size into a Duvel Tulip. Drink by 6/2/2014
A - Still a huge and solid bit of carbonation. the head overflowed over the glass with crystal clear bubbles. A mix of big and tiny creamy bubles with a nice head lacing for a beer that’s commercially made. The ale has an SRM of 6. Beautiful yellow gold appearance with haze from the yeast. I like drinking the yeast so I do vigorous pours on beers like this.
S - Strong bready Belgian yeast. Lemon zest, grass and a bit of coriander. I’m getting some hints of ginger and mild hops.
T - Hmm. Yeah this beer is best fresh. Even 7 months out, it’s not as great as Duvel right off the shelf. Nice lemon grassy taste. That delicious belgian yeast and a very big malt backbone of light malts. Maybe age is making the malts a bit stronger than fresh? I don’t remember it being so musty.
M - Great balance of carbonation. smooth finish with lingering hops.
O - Duvel is highly rated but so rarely drank by the beer community. I rate this beer high not only because it’s so drinkable despite the mass production and global shipping scale but because I know, no matter where in the world I am, a Duvel is not too far from reach. It’s hard to get great beer world wide and Duvel comes close to being great and easy to get.

330 ml flaske kjøpt på flyplassen i Brussel. En klassiker av øverste hylle, komplekst i aroma og smak. Blir alltid like imponert.

Bottle 330 ml. Pours hazy blonde with a nice lasting white head. Nice lacing too. Aroma: fruits, citrus, spices, hops. Well balanced taste. Nice bitterness. Alcohol is well hidden. Full bodied beer.
Bouteille 330 ml. Robe blonde trouble. Collet blanc persistant. Beau lacing. Arome: agrumes, épices, fruits et houblon. Goût bien balancé. L’alcool est bien dissimulé. Ronde en bouche.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 Bathory (54) - Bryne, NORWAY - MAY 16, 2012
Pale golden colour with a longlasting white head. Aroma of citrus, floral and some hint of banana. Fullbodied, and the alcohol is not noticible. Very good!
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 16/20 Psytron (565) - Turku, FINLAND - MAY 15, 2012
Witbier colour, huge head. Citrus smell. A bit citric aroma, slightly sour, slightly bitter. Amazingly no alcohol aroma.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Brenhophead (210) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - MAY 15, 2012
330mL bottle into a duvel glass, pours clear straw colour with a nice big head and a doughy lemon zest aroma. Flavour has doughy/bread/earthy notes with slight citrus in the backround. I’m not a huge fan of the belgian yeasts but this beer is ok.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Lowenbrau (302) - SPAIN - MAY 10, 2012
330ml bottle. Sweet, herbal aromas. Pours pale gold, with really thick white head, very peristant, uncompacted. Some lacing. Light to medium body and high carbonation. Taste begins sweet, alcoholic, with bitterness developing. Then some fruit flavours appear. Good dry aftertaste, quite long. Really enjoyable, but extremely dangerous due to its abv.
