330ml bottle from Masuyo’s Liquor in Asagaya. Poured into a Duvel tulip glass. Pours a golden yellow with a huge white soapy head that lasts throughout. Great lacing. Strong apple and pear aromas with barnyard and yeast on the nose as well. Slightly sweet with a hint of sourness as it comes to room temperature. Medium bodied with a slightly watery mouthfeel. Fizzy carbonation leaves a peppery element to the finish. Slightly boozy as well.

Bottle from SuperAlko in Tallinn (€ 2.75). BB 10/2016. Clear yellow colour, massive white head that drops very slowly, has a soapy appearance, leaving some scattered lacing. Bubbles still rising after 5 minutes. The second pour made it translucent and darker. On the nose it’s got distinct Belgian yeast, some faint spiciness, wheat, nice sweet fruits, and later on a herbal note with some lemon juice. It tastes modestly sweet with a surprisingly herbal-hoppy finish, it’s yeasty and doughy, fruity and crisp, wheaty. Enjoyable subtle warmth in the throat. Body’s around medium, carbonation very thin but crisp (not overly so), on the palate it’s soft. It finishes somewhat dry. A very nice, well-balanced and easy drinking beer.

33 cl. bottle @ home. Very blond beer with thick, white head. Refreshing aroma with hints of citrus. Lively palette, first taste is bitter, softens afterwards.

UPDATED: MAR 12, 2015 33cl bottle@home in tulip glass. Approx 6 Celcius. A nice surprise! Pours hazy yellow with ample white head. Fresh, somewhat subdued grassy aroma. A good balance of bitterness and fressness in the taste, where the high alcohol content is also kept in check. It is in the aftertaste that Duvel really shows its own personality. Only the faintest of Belgian yeastiness but plenty of malt and bitterness, leaving a very pleasant and very strong "yes, this is a real beer" taste in your mouth. If you, like me, find Leffe Blond too sweet, heavy and gooey, go for the Duvel..it is miles ahead!

VERY lively hazy pale yellow beer with a thick frothy, bubbly head. Aroma is light, grassy citrus. The very first taste had an initial hit which was incredibly bitter but it soon mellows and ends up feeling surprisingly flat, given the Light, grassy fruit in the flavour and it’s very fresh-tasting too. A proper blend of tastes in there. Very nice.

Dit is en blijft wel het standaard klassieke Belgisch bier als meetlat voor de rest. Lekker mottig niet te zoet. In het goede glas met het mooie stroompje bellen in het midden

330ml bottle. Pours very fizzy, light golden coloured, with a foamy head that fizzed away very quickly. Floral, grassy aroma, complex taste with bitterness and sweetness very well balanced. Like combining an abbey ale with a decent lager
