Four generations of the Moortgat family have brought together Pilsner malts, Bohemian hops, and a unique yeast strain to create this intense, aromatic and beguiling ale. This Belgian favourite is best enjoyed chilled (40 - 50 F) with discerning friends or good-looking strangers.

First time in a couple of years. Bottle. Orange-gold pour with a head difficult to keep down. Grassy with floral hop and yeast flourishes. Dough and citrus. Plenty of citrus on the palate, lovely balance of yeast and malt, carried through with a bright Bohemian hop character. Really refreshing, a hint of alcohol creeping in later not detracting, still unbeatable for the style.

Bottle. How can I not have rated this before?! Clear golden liquid with medium to big, frothy long lasting head. Aroma of bread, grain, floral hops, light banana, light clove, red apples and mineral. Taste is dry and light to medium bitter with notes of bread, light clove, white pepper and mineral. Light to medium bodied with high carbonation. This is a chitl beer. Very tame. Dry and refreshing, tastes nothing like its 8.5%.

Pours a pale clear yellow with a big, frothy white head that fades pretty quickly. Aroma of ripe pear, pepper, dominant yeast, grapes, floral notes, alcohol and a hint of citrus fruits. Taste is sweet, mildly sour. Smooth creamy mouth feel, medium but light body, lively carbonation, pleasant lightly bitter finish. Had a few of these when I lived in Belgium, very good beer, intense and great with cheese and Dijon mustard or dark chocolate. The level of intensity in flavour always reminds me of white wine.
