Four generations of the Moortgat family have brought together Pilsner malts, Bohemian hops, and a unique yeast strain to create this intense, aromatic and beguiling ale. This Belgian favourite is best enjoyed chilled (40 - 50 F) with discerning friends or good-looking strangers.

Aroma is grassig, citrus fruitig (scherp).

An old friend revisited. Pours slightly hazy gold, thin head. More carbonation than I remembered. Less aroma than you might expect - hints of yeast and orange. Loads of orange on the taste, and a nice lingering warmth from the abv. Nice balance of yeast and fruit. Still great, nearly 30 years after I first tasted it.

Flesje gedronken (tht 12-2015). Heerlijke hoppige geur .

beautiful aroma, intense yet refined. one of Belgium’s better blond ales (yes i would classify it as an ale, not a pils!). taste so different to looks in this case.

UPDATED: MAR 16, 2016 Pours kinda bright straw-colored yellow with a big white foamy head. Very good retention, good lacing. At this point I’d guess it was some watery wheat beer. The flavor is radically different from what the aroma and looks would suggest - it is very intense and flavorful. Malt, wheat and yeasts, fruitiness and some spice and a "belgian" winey touch, somewhat sour (lemon-like), ends with mild to medium, ’noble’ hoppy bitterness. Finish is also slightly spicy. It’s full-bodied, oily, has fairly high carbonation, alcohol hidden. In a way it feels like an extremely supercharged wheat beer. It’s incredibly drinkable. It completely surprised and amazed me. Definitelly gonna repeat.

Originally rated on 5/29/08. Monster white head that you gotta dig through to get the ale, pleasant scent of citrus and malt. Flavor was slightly spicy almost piney, good full body, alchol taste was noticeable. Not my favorite belgian out there but its still worth a try.
