Golden colored, bright to clear (even though secondary fermentation is in bottle, but yeast flocks and sticks to bottom real nice). Heavily carbonated, real thick and persistent white foam. Smell / taste: pear, clove, even a bit spicy (like pepper). Dry finish. Doesn’t feel / taste like a beer high in alcohol, but it is. Classic.

Grand classic beer from Belgium! Tulip glass only, Really special beer. Really Emperor status in its class. High alcohol, superb color, excellent head. Aroma no need to describe.

Shiny golden clear with a white and thick head. I poured it in the glass leaving 1cm on the bottom of the bottle to avoid mixing the yeast with the beer while drinking as recommended. The aroma reminds me of zest and rust. Even if doing so, the taste is quite bitter at the end but pleasant and inviting for another sip, thanks to its carbonation also. Served chilled with this taste and fizziness it almost feels like a summer beer, despite being quite alchoolic!

UPDATED: DEC 29, 2014 Served in a trappist glass. Beautiful. Golden with a persistent white foam. Bread, biscuit, lemon, yeast, coriander and bananas in aroma. Same in taste with light alcohol and spiciness. Finish is sour with some bitterness. Great beer!

UPDATED: JAN 25, 2015 Duvel is very easy to get everywhere in NL, and ive had it dozens of times the past 10 yrs living here. Aroma is good but nothing soecial stands out. A bit floral, maybe coriander and hops. Appearance is very yellow golden- which is ok but not spectacular. It does tend to have a nice frothy head. Im much more attracted to the darker and fuller tripel/quad beers however. Taste is above avg- very drinkable. Nothing bold stands out, but a nice balance of floral notes, citrus bite, and mild malts. Palate is very acid for me and dry with mild to medium bitterness. but after taste pleasant. Overall a solid ale, but nowhere near my favorite. I believe its much better in the summer, as it has a lighter feel to it both in appearance as well as taste.

Fajna chlebowa słodowość o lekko słodkim profilu, owocowa i witbierowa rześkość z delikatną kwaskowością, kontrowane alkoholowo-chmielową goryczką, przyjemną, krótkotrwałą, do tego średnie nagazowanie i alkoholowe rozgrzewanie w przełyku. Smak alkoholu niewyczuwalny.

What can I say, it’s Duvel, one of the greatest beers in the world. Spritzie, effervescent, and delicious.
