Commercial Description:
Bottle conditioned.
Four generations of the Moortgat family have brought together Pilsner malts, Bohemian hops, and a unique yeast strain to create this intense, aromatic and beguiling ale. This Belgian favorite is best enjoyed chilled (40 - 50 F) with discerning friends or good-looking strangers.

I had my first Duvel at The Brickstore in Atlanta, Georgia -- it was in the standard 11.2 ounce bottle with the white label. It poured a golden, rich color with a thicker head than I am used to. The tulip glass that this is served in has an influence on the one-of-a-kind size and shape of the head. The lacing was sticky and had an aroma of alcohol, honey, and malts (in that order). There is a little fruit in the flavor, but not enough to say that this is a complex beer -- it is mostly alcohol and sweetness. It is a simple one, but good and strong. A perfect example of the style, golden ales, in my opinion.

Poured from the bottle into a goblet. Pour produced a pale golden body topped with a thick meringue-like head. The carbonation danced wildly in the glass the entire time. Aroma is an earthy citrus with notes of grain. This is a light bodied and slightly sweet ale with light notes of honey. I am very impressed with how well the ABV is covered up in the crafting of this ale. Duvel goes down very easily, with a crisp dry, slightly hoppy aftertaste. Worth the $10 US for the 1.5 pint bottle.

Bottle. Pours very appealing golden, with luxuriant and long lasting head, with some lacing. Citrus and honey on the nose, and fresh on the palate, with overtones of hops, and undertones of malt. High alcohol content well blended.

Pours yellow-gold with abundant white head. Nice clean citrus flavors with bright carbonation. Starts sweet and ends slightly metallic and sour, with a warm lingering alcohol. Refreshing AND strong, a fairly unique combination.

Pours a big white head colour is light yellow. Aroma i fruity, lemonlike smells a bit like parfume there is also aroma of malt. flavour is acidic and rather dry the presence of the alcohol is clear and there is biterness at the end. Carbonation is plentiful which adds to this beers refreshing quality.
