Spicy sweet aroma. Straw colored hazy gold appearance. Light and fruity taste, with slightly spicy finish. Some clove / peppery quality. Highly carbonated and light mouthfeel. Simply delectible choice for this refreshing Belgian style.

Golden ale with huge foamy head. Very bubbly, and the mouthfeel reflects that. I know this is a world classic, so I was expecting true greatness. At first, though, I didn’t get it. The beer wasn’t uncommon in flavor, I thought. But the true test of beer, for me, is how you feel as the glass slowly empties,

Pours golden and clear. Huge head that’s difficult to control. Awesome. Not a strong aroma but definitely sweet. Taste is delicate but again, it’s sweet. The foam is bit thick but it brings its own personality. Good beer.

POured a golden yellow with a fluffy white head. Aroma was very sweet, candy sugar and alcohol. Flavor was a bit more complex than the aroma, with some spices added to the sweetness, but still overpowered by the alcohol.

The beer wasn’t uncommon in flavor, I thought. But the true test of beer, for me, is how you feel as the glass slowly empties, as the beer warms a bit, and when you take that final sip. Are you already thinking of what your next selection will be? Or are you thinking about how many of this beer you’ll buy tomorrow? For Duvel, it was definitely the latter.

pours cloudy straw color with huge sustaining white head. aroma is spicy, cloves, yeasty, mildly hoppy, some fruit, maybe apricot?... flavor is similar, yeast and fruit, spicy...typical belgain high carbonation, a bit too much for my tastes. finish is dry and tart. alcohol is hidden very well.

0.33l bottle in newcastle area. Golden ale with huge foamy white head, typical belgian look. I’ve tried this beer three times now to see if it grows on me, and each time I don’t like it. Smell and taste are harsh, alcoholic and yeasty. Very little balance, the alcohol and yeast seem to overpower anything else. Not great.

Smooth, crisp, dry and tart...Duvel’s golden ale is a good summertime ale but is best served cold. Once it warms up, it gets a bit hard to enjoy.
