Taverner (482), San Ramon, California, USA Jun 22, 2008 Aroma is slightly skunky but I like that. Pours golden almost pale. Flavor is classic Belgian, smooth, slightly sweet. Slight piney note in the finish. Kind of overrated, but its still an awesome Belgian.
unclemike (379), Ft. Riley, Kansas, USA Oct 11, 2008 Bottle] Pours golden with a big white head. Aroma is fairly sweet with a lot of yeast, light floral hops and a fair amount of malt. Taste is a little sweet at first, then a lot of yeast--almost bready, with some alcohol. Good mouthfeel with a pretty long finish. One of the first beers that I ever had, and one that I always find to be enjoyable drjay44 (164), Colorado, USA Oct 10, 2008 330 ml. bottle. Pours a nice thick, creamy long duration head, with loads of lacing, over a slightly cloudy pale yellow body....mild slightly spicy belgian yeast nose, with some mild citrus tones....tastes of mild citrus, with lots of carbonation up front, finishing with a sharp and lasting hop bitterness. Very nice mouth feel. Since Moortgat created the style of a Golden Belgian Strong Ale, it is the standard. Koen890 (2), Vilvoorde, Belgium does not count Oct 7, 2008 very strong beer with a nice collar.
it contains tastes such as orange peels and hops aromas.
I gladly drink it after the evening meal.
One of my favorites! Lilywhite (3), Preston, Lancashire, England does not count Oct 7, 2008 Lovely pale colour followed by a slightly citrusy smooth flavour. Very more-ish. IDunno19 (33), Ames, Iowa, USA Oct 3, 2008 Very pleasantly surprised! Enigmatic beer actually. Hoppy and wheaty with a touch of citrus like Hoegaarden. Taste is smooth and silky with that classic Belgian wheat beer taste. I feel like it’s more of a Saison like Ommegang Hennepin than a Belgian Strong Ale but hey, I like it so I’m not gonna complain. Great beer!
