I know that this stuff is a classic, and it has taken me long enough to rate it, but I have given this stuff loads of chances. And I like it, donít get me wrong, but it is not great. This is one of the few times that I am rating a beer less than its average. All that said, nice an pillowy, with a thin Belgian character. Quaffable. Better than an average brew.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle 0, 33L. Slightly hazy, golden colour with lively visible carbonation and thick, fully lasting white head. Aroma of sweet tropical fruits (banana) and honey. Taste starts light acidic with crispy, peppery mouthfeel and finish moderate bitter with long lasting aftertaste. Typical representer of Belgian strong ale..

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle, poured into a wine glass. White white body, but slightly hazy, huge frothy white head. Aroma is fruity and yeasty. Very enticing, but I canít pick out any distinct notes, besides an almost weizen like banana hint. Taste is sweet, subtle nips of bitterness at the back. Alcohol is present throughout, and very pleasant it is.

Light yellow, barely clear. Big foamy and carbonated head, white in coulour. Wheat and honey aroma, and slightly nutty. Very wheaty, being that it is a BSB. Some banana and tropical in the midnotes, and a slight bitter in the finish. Some sour in the mid as well. Advanced palate.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Looks nice and yellow. Very much carbonation, thus a firm head. Smells like most blond beers, a lesser version of the Tripel Karmeliet. The taste is ruined by the fizzly carbonation. It doesnít feel right in your moth and the taste is a bit unbalanced, but still has some nice hints; itís not watery.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Beautifully balanced aroma. Creamy golden in colour whilst still remaining clear. Head doesn't sit as nice as I'd like. It has a complex taste which I find difficult to associate with any fruit, vegetable or weird animal. The flavours develop with more time in your mouth but the beer is so nice it's challenging not to be greedy and go for the next mouthful.

Even being as commercial as it is, this is still a great beer. I love the pepperiness (yes I just made that word up) underneath. A wonderfully balanced beer. Delicious. I want 3 more.

Bottled. Nice beer the Duvel. Flowery which I normally do not prefer but has a clean fruity aftertaste that I donít mind. Reminds me of a heffa but very satisfying Pilsner.
