Pours with a smaller-than-expected head. Bubblegum and straw in the nose. Taste is yeast, bread, straw, champagne grapes. Very fizzy, distractingly so at first but it settles down as you let it sit. Refreshing and tasty.

Dank an hoppy aroma. Clear straw color. Tight white head. Hoppy up front with some herb and malt notes. Crazy crisp and refreshing for a strong beer

Light yellow color. Slightly hazy liquid. Long-lasting big white head(foam). Aroma citrus but not really strong. Maybe some hops as well. Good body form the belgian school [(or Skål) I don’t know hihihih]. Lively carbonation. Overall it looks really nice. Generally,I don’t love Belgian Strong Ales but this one is special product.

Review based on the BJCP2008 guidelines (style 18D). Bottle 33 cl - Batch L42401 0224. AROMA: esters aromas reminiscente of oranges and some pears. low sweet malt background. very low no non-existent hop character. some spicy alcohol aromas. APPEARANCE: light gold color with a bit of haze. large white head that persists for very long time. characteristic viscosity leading to belgian lacing. TASTE: faint fruity flavours mixed with a low sweet background. medium bitterness that lingers beyond a dry finish. some spicy alcohol notes. PALATE: medium-low body with high carbonation. some astringency is present as some alcohol warmth. OVERALL: a classic but now it seems with less overall quality.

Pleasingly sweet floral aroma. A suble caramel-honey taste with good body and a citrus finish. Amber appearance with a cloudy complexion. Very pleasing drink overall, though best sipped than quaffed!

Fruity, flowery, complex ale with a somewhat annoying champagne-like carbonation and noticeable alcohol in the finish. A little too mild for the high abv.

Again, given the ratings i found here on RB, i found this beer 60 miles away and at $20 a 4pk, was slightly concerned, but took the leap anyway. FIRST tried drinking from snifter (as i do ALL Belgians), VERY lackluster on ALL counts. Now, I’ve NEVER been a big "the glass makes the beer" follower, but on my LAST bottle, tried in a tulip Sam Adams glass and was shocked at the difference, was like a totally different beer on all counts. Will I buy again, no....but I NOW am a firm believer in the addage that the right glass DOES make or BREAK the beer

I thought this would be apropos for my 666th rating. Somehow, I had yet to rate this "devilish" brew. 750 ml bottle. Pours a cloudy straw gold color with a big white rocky head. Aroma is sweet yeasty lemony malt. Slightly sulphury notes as well. First sip yields a sweet, tart, complex fruity malt character that hints of lemon peel and vanilla bean. Their is a dough-like quality that underlies this tasty ale. The Saaz hops lend an earthy, herbal, spicy character that balance this nicely. The finish is pleasantly dry and tart. Still as good as I remember when I first tasted this some twenty years ago.

Used to drink this back in the ’80’s when it was more reasonably priced. Got it for a nostalgic splurge and it is pretty much the same old Duvel, easy drinking and deceptively powerful. Beautiful pale yeasty look in a tulip, nice head. This is a subtle brew, unlike so many American craft beers. No overwhelming maltiness, no overpowered hops, no alcohol taste, just a well blended, smooth, classic brew. Duvel abides.

Yellow golden colour. Slightly hazy liquid. Long-lasting big white head. Aroma of banana and citrus but not really strong. Maybe some pineapple as well. Quite bitter. Medium body. Oily texture. Lively carbonation. Overall it looks really nice but for me it is too bitter. Not my kind of beer. Shame on me.
