FatTony (91), Augusta, Georgia, USA Apr 5, 2008 11.2 ounce bottle- poured very pale yellow with a full and long lasting head. Aroma was all skunk, actually unpleasant. The taste has a citrus base and a very bitter bite. This ale becomes better as you drain the glass, (possibly due to the high ABV). Campaign-like carbonation, and lightness. Fair to good.
fidelis83 (13), Clinton, Iowa, USA Jul 6, 2008 Pours lemonade pale with HUGE white foamy head that lasts and lasts if your not careful you won’t be drinking it for a while because your glass is 2/3 foam. Aroma is very pleasant grass and pine ...pilsner like but a distinct note of clover flower as it warms is pretty unique. Flavor is mild sweet and fruity at first then, dried fruit then that clover flower again, and a little licorice, maybe I just have summer on my mind. Finish is somewhat drier than you would expect but very nice green apples on the very back. A great beer that everyone should try once in their life. kriggins (3), , Florida, USA does not count Jul 5, 2008 Spicy sweet aroma. Straw colored hazy gold appearance. Light and fruity taste, with slightly spicy finish. Some clove / peppery quality. Highly carbonated and light mouthfeel. Simply delectible choice for this refreshing Belgian style. Edgekrusher (13), , USA Jul 4, 2008 Golden ale with huge foamy head. Very bubbly, and the mouthfeel reflects that. I know this is a world classic, so I was expecting true greatness. At first, though, I didn’t get it. The beer wasn’t uncommon in flavor, I thought. But the true test of beer, for me, is how you feel as the glass slowly empties, drunkbeer (14), London, Greater London, England Jul 3, 2008 Updated: Jul 6, 2008Who the hell hasn ’t go their drink on with Duvel a few times?. Ive tried many other Belgian Ales & few of them can obscure Duvel .I love this shit. Though, for me Duvel is better from the big 750ml corked bottles. The recipe is elevated in the wine style bottle or something. Its more vibrant than the smaller 330ml stubbies . Flavours of dry spicy fruit ester taste(apple pear and banana) and that subtle sweet pils malt and a classy citrusy champange like hit.Wicked basewars (29), New York, USA Jul 2, 2008 Pours golden and clear. Huge head that’s difficult to control. Awesome. Not a strong aroma but definitely sweet. Taste is delicate but again, it’s sweet. The foam is bit thick but it brings its own personality. Good beer.
