Sep 6, 2004 Presentation: Brown euro size bottle - 330ml. Freshness date 7/04 (just under the wire).
Appearance: A red/amber color with light carbonation and an off-white head (poor retention). Nice sticky lacing.
Aroma: Malt, caramel and a grassy presence of hops.
Taste/Mouthfeel: Medium bodied and slightly sweet. Mouthfeel is creamy at the start with a light hop bite and effervescent finish.
IMHO: A fair brew with a nice mouthfeel, but not a lot of memorable qualities.

Sep 4, 2004 75cl corked bottle BBD 03/2005 Nice amber pour, head dies to nothing in my glass, but poured well. yummy modified/decoction-type carmel malt aroma...some faint dry fall day leaves aroma. Drinks with body, but delicately. This really reminds me of an Oktoberfest, with maybe a bit more bitterness and yeast funk. It’s a good beer, strong on the malt foundation. It can’t touch the La Bavaisienne in terms of luxuriousness, though. Still, quite nice.

Aug 28, 2004 8 May 2004 - Light orange malt aroma. Cloudy light brown appearance. Simple very sweet citrus flavour. Easy drinking medium body.

Aug 23, 2004 Bottle from Beers of Europe. Amber coloured. Nice creamy, bubbly tan head.
Nice aroma of fruit, nuts and yeast, and a toasted smell. Taste is sweet caramel and lots more besides. Nutty, toasted, some yeast, some alcohol. Sweetish finish, slightly bitter aftertaste. Full bodied, excellent mouthfeel. Very good beer.

Aug 19, 2004 Almost metallic amber in color. Quite a shine to it. Look is crisp with bubbles of carbonation clinging to the glass. The aroma is autumn in natue... thats the only way I can describe it. Apple, and pear and cinnamon and yeast. If this is Biere de Garde, then I am a fan. Quite enjoyable.

Aug 7, 2004 Pours a lighter amber color, medium head. Lightly nutty, some toasty malt, lighter fruits. Flavor is similar except with some tinny notes on the end. Medium bodied, earthy dry finish. Not bad.

Jul 29, 2004 Amber color, lots of bubbly active head and carbonation. Fruity, nutty nose with traces of dusty yeast. Flavors start kinda fruity (apple and pear), then turn a touch sour, with yeast and hoppy bitterness coming in. Pretty malty, overall, with intresting yeasty flavors. Finishes with a woody tone. Pleasing, but not outstanding.

Jul 23, 2004 750 Bottle. BB date of 3-03 so this is well aged. Bought two cases on sale last year. Poured a hazy orangey ambersimilar to iced tea. Finger thick dense beigeish head. Color cleared after several minutes. Aroma was of sweet malt and some candy sugar. Tasted of sweet malt,candied fruit,subtle hints of almonds if swirled around the mouth, dryish finish that disappeared as the bottle warmed. Left the lips slightly sticky. I’m guessing from my first taste of this batch 10 months ago that this beer is pretty much peaking out. Got a couple bottles saved for the winter holidays.
