I think that France is very underated as a beer producing nation-this will stand up against all but the very best. SSSteve (2107), Atlanta, Georgia, USA

| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Oct 28, 2002 Average foam atop a very mirky deep amber. Aroma is highly accentuated with rich caramel and nuts. The typicality of this style which had me yearning for more. Soft hints of wood, cork, and perfume are showcased in a less subtle fashion. Average mouthfeel. Predictable flavors of caramel, toast, and nuts. Finishes lightly acidic. Not much worth writing about here. Simply a solid beer to drink with your non-beer loving cousin whilst enjoying game seven of the World Series. radiomgb (2076), Peterborough, Ontario, Canada

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 9, 2006 Pours hazy amber with a small white-ish head. The aroma has amber ale malt, light caramel and a light musiness. There are hints of butterscotch and honey. Medium body with lots of carbonation. Starts with the malt profile of a typical boring amber ale with a slightly more spice and some fruitiness. The finish has some sourness and astringency. Not bad, but for a biere de garde this seems kind of boring for what is usually a very interesting style. FROTHINGSLOSH (2046), GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 5/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 6/20 | Jun 7, 2008 Sampled from a 750 ml green bottle this beer poured a vivid caramel amber color with a huge orange-white head that lingered. The aroma was lightly skunky, malty and lightly sweet. The flavor was bitter, tangy, odd and skunky. There was something weird in here that I could not identify over the skunk. Not good. | 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 21, 2007 Poured a foggy chestnut amber color with a small soapy head circumnavigated with bubbles. Chalky, mildly sour, sugary sweet and warm nutty nose. Creamy woody sweet malt flavor that doesn’t hold up in the finish. Alright beer, but nothing super special. kook (2034), Perth, Western Australia, Australia
