Nice lacework. The nose is of malt, straw, white pepper, caramel, candy, a huge amount of figs, wood, pineapple and manure. Slightly sour. Sweet taste balanced by a good bitterness. Dominating figs, raisins and hay with white pepper, home made caramel, sour apples, pineapple, candied fruits and wood showing up. Medium bodied. Very drinkable. Perfectly balanced. Sourish. Some honey and peaches showing up in the finish which is rather dry. Extremely complex. Additional comment after a few samplings: Honeyish nose with huge amounts of raisins in the taste. Malty. fredandboboflo (1431), East Setauket, New York, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 30, 2006 No date. Label says French Farmhouse Ale, no mention of a.b.v. or the word amber, but I’m pretty sure that’s what it is. Clear amber with a large, dense, off white head. Not much in the aroma - toasty, caramel malt and a touch of must. Flavor steps it up a bit adding some toffee, anise, light and dark fruits, yeast and some mild hops towards the finish. Smooth, medium body. Nice biere de garde, very drinkable. mrkimchee (1414), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Bought a few bottles for my cellar in DK. This beer was the favorite, because of its brown look and very wellbalanced aroma and flavor. Some bitterness and not so much malty sweetness. Fullbodied with notes af honey/vanilla and grains. Hard to getting angry at! iwantalambic (1389), St. Louis, Missouri, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jan 1, 2003 Very light brown appearance. Short musty flavour, with strong malt overtones. Several spices linger on the palate, smooth and sweet, but there was something missing in this brew.
