Bière de garde from North of France. Amber beer, metallic first then roasty, caramel taste with medium sweetness and notable alcohol aroma (7,5 ABV). Good with cheese or meat, autumn and winter season. Quite cheap, worth a try!

’The most widely available of the bieres de garde’ appears lustrous amber with a temporary covering of greyish head. The aroma is of sweet, sugary apricots and other fruity malts. There’s a spritzy mouthfeel before a flush of sweet biscuity malts. There is some tangerine tanginess toward the finish. It’s okay, but not especially floating my boat.

Can, 50 cl. A pleasant bière de garde, well balanced, full taste and great mouthfeel.

Keyaki. Copper coloured, bit weird. Very floral and fruity, berries. Not as I expected. Sweet caramel too. Feels a bit thin for the sweetness but nice enough.

France trip can. Amber almost red appearance - head quickly disappears to very thin white lace. Steady carbonation, sweet aroma. Tang on tongue and back of mouth, tastes a bit sweet - not enjoyed.

Pours clear slightly copper-tined pale amber with two fingers of rocky light tan head, good retention and patchy lacing. (3/5) Nose is caramel, mild dark fruit, light grassy hops. (6/10) Taste is moderately strong sweet, mild bitter. (6/10) Medium bodied, lively to moderate carbonation, building bitter and mildly boozy finish. (4/5) Not bad and certainly quite enjoyable with some cheese and sausage from the same convenience/grocery store. (12/20)

750ml caged bottle from carrefour, Soissons, France. Copper beer with residual head. Aroma is malts, caramel and alcohol. Taste is dry leaf, malts, alcohol and caramel. A touch harsh. Decent.

Too sweet for me, but cinnamon and honey front and center but not terribly so, although a little thick on the tougue - another consequesnce of the high sugar. Light hops, low carbination do not help the matter.

0,33 flaske delt med Ovesen på tappekveld mars-15: mørk upusset kobber. Ikke helt frisk aroma og smak av tørket frukt og bær. Uspennende og lite som minner om det jeg forbinder med biere de garde.

Bottle shared with JMD at HNB 24.03.15. Dark orange. Off-white head and lacing. Sweet and slightly unfresh aroma. Fruity and with berries. Similar taste, also with dried fruits, dried berries and wine gum.
