Bottled. 33cl sample. The aroma has caramel malts, bit earthy yeast. Hazy, brown coloured beer with an off white head. The taste is light sweet, has toffee , caramel and finshes with a spicy bitterness.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20

F: huge frothy white head, latter make a thin film.
C: clear amber colour.
A: malt and very fine hops, hints of grass, yeast.
T: a little sweet but not too much, caramel, brown sugar, some like prunes/figs tones, dry on the palate, some woody tones, medium body, good carbonation, I don’t know much about French beers but this is worth to try if a bit overrated.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
’The most widely available of the bieres de garde’ appears lustrous amber with a temporary covering of greyish head. The aroma is of sweet, sugary apricots and other fruity malts. There’s a spritzy mouthfeel before a flush of sweet biscuity malts. There is some tangerine tanginess toward the finish. It’s okay, but not especially floating my boat.

Keyaki. Copper coloured, bit weird. Very floral and fruity, berries. Not as I expected. Sweet caramel too. Feels a bit thin for the sweetness but nice enough.

2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
France trip can. Amber almost red appearance - head quickly disappears to very thin white lace. Steady carbonation, sweet aroma. Tang on tongue and back of mouth, tastes a bit sweet - not enjoyed.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours clear slightly copper-tined pale amber with two fingers of rocky light tan head, good retention and patchy lacing. (3/5) Nose is caramel, mild dark fruit, light grassy hops. (6/10) Taste is moderately strong sweet, mild bitter. (6/10) Medium bodied, lively to moderate carbonation, building bitter and mildly boozy finish. (4/5)
Not bad and certainly quite enjoyable with some cheese and sausage from the same convenience/grocery store. (12/20)
