Relatively dark beer with a fairly long lasting head for a beer of this style. The aroma has touches of aniseed, but the flavour is relatively standard. A slightly winey, sweet beer.

Bottle (750ml):
Strong malts and quite a sweet aroma from this beer along with a bit of spice and some milder caramel. There is also some bread and a light helping of hops and some sugar.
Orange copper colour with a very big, foamy white head at the top of the beer that manages to leave some good lacing and shows visible signs of strong carbonation.
Sweet and sugary to taste with some fruit, apple being the most pronounced. There is also some malts, light caramel and a touch of honey in there.
Smooth and well carbonated with a medium to light-medium body and a light bitter finish.

Nice tasting and quite smooth with strong, sweet flavours and a bit of sugar in there along with a nice malt base. Best of the style so far for me.

Test vom 2.8.2009, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 10,8,9,9,12,9 - 9,10

Pours honey coloured with gentle bubbles and a decent head, though this drops away quite quickly. Nose of toffee and biscuits with a delicate apple note. Taste of toffee and biscuits and it finishes with a hazelnut note. Palate has medium body, big tangy/creamy texture and a crisp/tangy finish. Overall, this tastes like a strong bitter.

Shared with my wife at a hotel room in Nice, bought at the local Spar
Copper hazy, big beige head. Smells of caramel, yeast, fruity tones and some malt. Quite malty taste, medium sweetness, caramel and fruity notes, some nuts and honey. Medium bodied, soft carbonation. Light to medium bitter finish, some hops. Totally a ok beer. I’m not an expert of the style yet, but i guess i want to try alot of more of them.

Pours clear deep gold, big compact head, light carb, apple and spice aromas. Dry, crisp finish with hint of apple like sweetness

Draft at The Map Room, served in a tulip. Pours a mostly clear amber color with a finger of white head that settles into a film that remains consistent the whole way down. Aroma of caramel and brown sugar, ripened fruits, toast, and musty grains. The flavor is rustic, with caramel, bready malts, fruits, and earth. Medium-bodied, with a sweet, musty mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Not bad. Surprised to see how sub-par the ratings are lately.

(33 cl bottle from Brødrene D; BBD: November 29th 2012) Pours a clear amber with medium off-white head. Good lace and lively carbonation. Aroma is a pleasantly, subdued leafy with practically no hop impression but mostly some bready malt with fruity esters also being present. Oily texture with lively carbonation, medium body and a slightly bitter finish. Taste is initially mildly sweet from the flavour but ends on a mildly bitter note. Well balanced and easily drinkable despite the ABV.
