Draft pour. Poured a cloudy light brown- orange hue. Nose had hints of fruit and light hops. Light front with hints of toffee and malt. Bubbly and dry with a malty dry metallic finish.

750ml cork bottle bought at CitySuper in Harbour City, Tsim Sha Tsui.

Clear amber colour; Half finger head and white foam which fades in 40 seconds; Minimal lacing and notable carbonation; Aroma of orange, honey, cherry, malt and spice; Medium sweet taste of ale malt, light honey, orange, biscuit, very light liquorices, coffee, cocoa, citrus, and hint of grass; Mid to light body, with pretty thick and oily palate; Taste profile is sweet English pale ale base, with a somewhat dark character highlighted by the presence of coffee and chocolaty notes. Liquorices influence is not that strong and so does hoppiness, which is mild in citrus aroma and only light touch of grass; Taste of alcohol becomes stronger with further sips; Flashes of hops astringency as finish. Slightly dry after taste, very easy to mouth.

Comments: This is decent enough, but not something that makes me wow. If this is a Pale Ale, then this one performs poorly as it doesn’t have that fresh and sunny taste. Its coffee / chocolate note makes me feels like a rainy, foggy days in London or Paris, pretty miserable yet strangely, I enjoy this feeling. Worth a try for this style.

A crowd pleaser of the highest order. Not terribly structured or serious but masses of soft (and sweet) milky chocolate and malt, Massively quaffable and easy going. Yep I’m seduced.

Pours amber color with small and quickly disappearing head. Aroma is very weak, only some malty and sweety notes. Taste is much better, there’s albo malty with some fruity ester and hay hops. Medium carbonation and medium finish.

This is a pretty decent de Garde. Very carbonated, lemony sweetness with some residual spicyness. Medium bodied and effervescent.

Initial musty aroma of malt and hay. Dark clear amber with thick airy head. From there it starts to go downhill. Taste is weak and bland. Mouthfell is thin and watery with no lngering tastes on the palate. Expected better from this brew.

Amber colored well rounded beer. Alcohol taste goes slightly above the malt and hops notes.

perfect biere de garde. gorgeous balance, dry, slightly tart on the back end, creamy carbonation, malt body, and rustic. I want this every day.

Five year old bottle at Mark’s. From notes. Aroma of coffee and some light toffee. Flavors of toffee, caramel, and a sort of milk chocolate. Drinkable, if not terribly tasty, even at this vintage. We also had a new can of this stuff for comparison, and all of us liked it considerably less than the aged bottle version.
