Commercial Description:
In 1991, the brewery decided to revive an old custom harking back to the 14th century when there were no means of refrigeration. Beer was then traditionally brewed in early December and stored over the winter under naturally cool conditions. The first barrels were only opened in March, as the days started to become warmer. It has a fresh, springlike bouquet with dominant tones of malt and grains. It is made using a top fermentation yeast, malted barley and newly harvested Alsation hops. With 5.4% alcohol by volume, it is a pure malt beer that is highly refreshing. It has a fine white head and clear golden colour, a dominant hoppy taste with a hint of fruitiness. Best served between 5 and 6°C.

750 ml bottle, from Holiday Wine in Escondido. Pours clear golden color with a large and fluffy white head that leaves thick lace as it diminishes. Aroma of medium brown bread, apple cider, light spice, and floral notes. Flavor is tangy and refreshing, light fruity malts, interesting bready yeastiness, hints of citrus, floral and herby hops mixed with a slight bit of coriander and white pepper. Light to medium body, agressive carbonation. I can see how this is a perfect springtime beer.

This is a review of the freshly arrive Biere de Printemps Biere de Mars with a different label than the picture. Gold color; big head of different size bubbles goes away fairly quickly. Big aroma of barnyard, straw, malts. Nice rich flavors of sweet malt/honey, candy or powder sugar, lychee, subtle spice in the finish. Some saison type funkiness, slight tropical fruit, some bread and light hops. Tasty and easy drinking.

Small bottle. Pours clear golden with a short white head. Aroma of grass with some fruits and sweetness. The flavour is refreshing with a gentle sweetness, rather thin, with some fruits, grass, some malt and bits of hops. Refreshing but nothing special.

Bottle during French class; shared with others. Labeled Biere de Mars. Aroma of some bready malt and floral hops. Flavor is similar but sweet, with a champagne-like mouthfeel. Tasted better than it smelled.

Bottle sampled with golubj during French class. Bottle was labelled Bier de Mars and we deduced this was it. Flavor was of bread and fruit, slightly sweet. Some vegetable taste. Mouthfeel was only ok. Definitely drank this during the wrong season. More of a easy drinking thirst quencher.

Pours a hazy yellow with a nice head that dissapates quickly. Aroma has lots of yeast... smells like a German pils, with some banana and clove notes that make it slightly complex. Body is light, and the flavor is fairly bland. A touch of sweetness saves this one from oblivion. Not bad, but I won’t be revisiting this one anytime soon.

Pours bright gold into a snifter. Fluffy white conglomerate head recedes to leave spot lacing. Sweet malt and slight skunk aromas. Flat with strange sour perfume which lasts through the lasting finish. Hard to finish -- like skunked Stella.

750mL, Biere de Mars, 5.4% ABV. Light golden color. Aroma of vegetables, corn. Malty sweetness. Like a rich bodied BMC. Medium bodied. Dry bitter finish.
