COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Filtered, and lagered but unpasteurised.
Launched in 2000 as Jenlain Blonde. Changed to Jenlain No. Six in March 2005, with Jenlain Blonde name being used for a new 7.5% beer.
With its splendid golden hues and fruity tones, Jenlain No. Six has a distinctive bitter finish and a hoppy nose. The barley-scented liquor sparkles under its light, foamy head. Light and thirst-quenching, with a rich characteristic savour, it is best served at between 5 and 6°C, with a meal or as an aperitif.

An ordinary pale lager, clear gold color. Simple corn/malt flavor. Not offensive in any way and very drinkable.

Bought a pack of these from a French Hypamarket: 25cl throw away green bottles, just for drinking in the kitchen while cooking and stuff over Christmas, saved one to review at leasure (Jan 2012). They were great just for ’out the neck’ quaffing in the hot surrounds of the cooker but didn’t really notice the taste etc, I just ’necked’ them. This bottle however will get some respect: poured into an ’Augustijn’ labelled chalice. It looked like your typical European lager/pilsner. Light golden body, bright, clean and clear, on top the usual white head that refuses to hang around. The smell was slightly metallic with hints of a hop (yes, you read that correctly, a hop). The beer is supposed to be filtered, and lagered but unpasteurised. So it’s a lager then! The regular lager/pilsner body depth is almost reached, but this is a bit thinner and weaker really, the 6% ABV isn’t hidden too well and the flavours are not strong either:it’s a cheap supermarket lager in all aspects. Strange how I enjoyed just drinking this beer a lot more than I have dissecting and reviewing it. The beer had a chance to warm up a bit too as I wrote this review, you don’t want to drink this unless it is cold, trust me!

Bottle, 33 cl. Almost clear golden beer, some sediments though. No head at all (bbd 01/10 12). Aroma is sweet spicy, flowery and light fruity with notes of toasted malts, bread, honey, straw, abricot, grass. Taste is sweet and spicy, some phenols, grassy hops. Very flat carbonation, light watery mouthfeel, medium bodied. Dry medium bitter finish. Quite refreshing, quite complex for a lager, but could do with a bit more body.

Golden coloured and clear. Has a white head, mostly diminishing. Aroma is sweet and malty, light bread. Flavor is sweet too, finish lightly bitter. Syrupy texture and soft carbonation.

500 ml can picked up in Dakar, Senegal. Pours a clear gold color with a big creamy white head. Aroma is very malty, sweet fruit, bread and hay. Sweet fruity mouthfeel. Taste is malty, sweet, some tart hoppy and fruit.. Crispy malty medium palate. Finishes fruity and then nice bitter tart aftertaste. OK

33 cl. bottle. Clear, pale golden colour with a fizzy, white head that faded very fast. Fruity aroma with grains, grasses and light hops. Sweet and fruity taste with notes of hops and light malts. Thin to medium body with a lively carbonation and a short, fruity finish. A nice, drinkable pale lager.

Okay French blonde beer with decent head and a yellowish body. Aroma of hoppiness and bière de garde sugary sweetness. Flavour is the same, sugariness with a dry hoppy finish. Not a bad blonde, not a great one either.

Aroma and taste of grassy and dry hops and malt. Nothing special but drinkable!
