COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This top fermented beer is a luxury beer full of flavor and character whose fine balance owes itself to the variety of malts carefully selected from the best growers and the subtle blend of different types of hops, together with a new more aromatic strain of yeast. Its shimmering and sparking robe is crystal clear. It has a dense and persistent head that leaves a fine, filigree pattern on the glass. A light refreshing beer, it has a summery bouquet with fruity and flowery notes that counterbalance its well-defined hoppy tones and generous and long-lasting aftertaste. Jenlain Or is best served at between 6 and 8°C. see http://www.jenlain.fr/en/produit/jenlain_or.php

Bottled. Clear golden, small head. Aroma of white pepper and honey. Sweet and full bodied with rounded mouthfeel. Honey and grains, a bit bold and clumsy. Low bitterness.

750ml bottle. Golden body with a fluffy white head, quite some carbonation, but not much of a retention. Aroma is fresh grassy hops, definitely a summer bouquet, but mixed with a good dose of yeast, undefined spiciness, some floral nuances. Taste is malty, decent amount of hops, poor disguised alcohol, herbal tones, on the sweet side. Must admit I was expecting a little more, even so, this is the best French beer I had so far.

bottle. Poured clear gold with a dense white head. Sweet grainy aroma with a floral quality. Mouthfeel is crisp and light. A malty brew with a hint of spice, banana and some yeast.. Alcohol comes out in the finish.

Caged-corked 750ml bottle decants a clear golden ale with a sticky tight pored white cap. Lively effervescence. Aroma is clean and pleasant – fruity, grainy some grassiness. Medium-light body, crisp dry character, slick mouth feel. Flavor profile grainy fruity tones up front turn a bit more complex mid palate as the hops are detected with some sweet-sour fruitiness like a pear cider – goes to a long mellow lightly bitter/tart finish with a hop kiss at the finish…………………………. I had been putting off reviewing this one until I had time to sample it a few times and make a decision as to how I liked or disliked a commercial (but well made) filtered Belgian blonde ale as opposed to the proper unfiltered variety. I must say that although this is not as rich and complex as unfiltered blondes it is exceedingly drinkable. Fresh, bright, fruity, mellow, well rounded, hides its alcohol well – I prefer this to Duvel

UPDATED: MAR 2, 2012 27/II/2012 75cl bottle @ Klaas’ place - BB: 17/X/12 (2012-163) Thanks to Klaas for sharing the bottle!

Clear blond beer, small aery white head, unstable, adhesive with nice lacing. Aroma: sweet sugary, unripe fruits, yeast, bit of paint. MF: soft carbon, light to medium body. Taste: sugary, ripe to overripe fruits, sweet, ripe banana, bitter touch. Aftertaste: more sweetness, ripe banana, a touch of bitterness. Meh.

Boutip (3459) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - FEB 20, 2012
Bottle: Poured a clear golden color ale with a huge pure white foamy head with good retention and some good lacing. Aroma is unfortunately dominated corn notes which are not really pleasant. Taste is also dominated by loads of corn ester with an overly sweet malt base. Boyd is full with a weird oily texture and good carbonation with no apparent alcohol. This one is a total mess and not something I would look for again.

Spab (1195) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - FEB 16, 2012
750 ml bottle from LCBO. Pours a clear, bright golden yellow colour with white head that quickly recedes to a thin cap. Aroma is cereal grains, sweet fruit and floral. Flavour is sweet, mostly tropical fruit, definite floral charcter and light cereal grains with some underlying funkiness. Light dryness in finish. A little sweet but decent.

A taste of alcohol with some Belgian floral hops. There’s a bit of a body, though not huge. Colour that approaches pissiness and nothing of a head. In Toronto there are a lot better beers you can get easier and for less.A big 750ml corked bottle that I sat on for a couple of months.

Bottle. Pale and perfectly clear gold pour, with creamy white head. Aroma of light cereal, peach and other light fruit notes. Taste is sweet and fruity, really light hop flavor. Palate has lively carbonation and a slightly sweet body. As belgian as french beer gets I guess, not a big hit but it’s definitely ok.
