25 cl. bottle@home. Biere Brune is not my favourite (liquid brown bread most of it) but this one looked interesting and small enough to make me want to try it. And it was certainly a good example of the variety. Dark in color with a fine light brown head with fine small bubbles. Not much aroma but the one there was reminded me of freshly washed laundry. Rich brown taste - malt and raisins - and a good, long aftertaste. High alcohol content very well integrated. A good Bier Brune, but still not my favorite poison by a long shot.

Jun. ’14. A 0.33 l bottle, I guess this one is Marko’s, thanks for sharing! It poured lightly hazy brown body with medium sized head. A bit stinky sourish infected aroma over some caramel in the background. Flavor was sour, too, not so much, lightly metallic, some dried fruits and caramel here, too. Medium bodied. This one seems to have some potential, but I really feel like it’s an infected batch. Ticking for rerate.

Can from a French supermarket. Pours deep chestnut with a big frothy cream head. Sweet and malty with some spicy citrus overtones. Maybe a little liquorice going on. A touch boozy, but OK.

Can from Geant Casino supermarket, Rennes, Brittany, France. Very dark brown beer that pours without a head. It has a burnt caramel, toffee and malty flavour followed by alcoholic red fruit on the finish.

Bottle 25 cl. Clear dark ruby brown color, two finger frothy beige head, recedes slowly to a thin layer, fair lacing; sweet malty nose, toasted, caramel, dark fruit; roasty medium sweet taste; medium body, oily texture, carbonation is soft; bittersweet finish, spicy hints (cinnamon).

Can from Carrefour and drunk at home. Clear dark brown thin beige head. Dark clear gold cola like colour. No real head. It’s a bit cola like all round to be honest. Not much hop, the malt is dark and dryish but it’s like drinking a strong alcoholic cola. Weird. With a touch of Bovril.

Deep amber/red body with an off white medium sized head. Sweet, malt-driven aroma, dark fruits, peppermint?! Tangy taste, raisins, dark malts, no finish, light soap. What on earth is this? A bad porter?! Doesn’t seem that infected and still feels off. Oh well.
