3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 RichardGretton (4028) - Leicestershire, ENGLAND - JAN 18, 2004
Standard biere de garde appearance with a light head and a malty/fruity aroma. Sweet initial flavour with a very bitter finish, slightly spiced as well. Overall an average biere de garde.

The bottle looks good, the beer in the glass also. Starts modest hoppy-dry. Becomes more and more metallically, a bit hard. Finish is flat and boring. I exspected more...

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Marko (3635) - Split, CROATIA - JAN 11, 2009
Bottle courtesy of ogivlado (thanks!), shared with heavy. Poured a golden body with a medium sized thick white head that went away somewhat slowly. The nose is interesting, lemony and dust yet flowery, some cloves too. The cloves dominate the taste, asserting themselves over some herbal/vegetable notes. Ok maltiness. Can be considered tasty despite the fact that it tastes like a cross between a clovey wheat beer and a pale lager.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 jaghana (2877) - Strasbourg (France), FRANCE - FEB 26, 2013
UPDATED: MAR 27, 2013 Bottle 25cl, a clear blond beer. Aroma is on malt, light caramel, barley sugar and peppery hops, typical belgian yeast, good beer near to Gavroche profile but with a bit less body, ok !
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Allen (2689) - SWITZERLAND - MAR 30, 2013
Bottled 25cl. Courtesy of jaghana. Coriander, hazelnuts and burnt sugar throughout. Grainy. Reminiscent of the trappist style. Very interesting and quite pleasant. Thanks a lot jaghana!
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Mungo (2472) - Southampton, Hampshire, ENGLAND - JAN 3, 2006
Bottle. Spicy wheaty fruit aromas. Light and refreshing. Not really srure if it contains wheat but had a soft texture and slight tartness I’ve found in some beers with wheat.
2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 erickok (2374) - Tours, FRANCE - JAN 13, 2013
Very clear light golden body with big bubbly stable white head. Quite yeasty, light malts, huge carbonation. Clean and standard Belgian appeal. Very mild taste, not bad and at least not overly sweet but very boring and mellow. Not really a bière de garde either. At least it proudly states the brewer name and doesn’t include artificial ingredients like so many other supermarket brews. It’s okay. (25cl bottle from six pack from Carrefour in Tours)
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 heavy (1989) - Split, CROATIA - JAN 13, 2009
10/01 0.25 l bottle courtesy of ogivlado, thanks! What a name for my first Biere de garde! Well, it poured deep golden body with big, slightly yellow head. Interesting aroma, ale banana yeasty, some honey malt and spices. A bit stale flavor, but otherwise fine, nice yeasty and malty with some subtle components like herbal spices. Well balanced between sour and sweet, but quite thin bodied. Finish is nice, medium to longer, reflecting the flavor. An OK beer, but I hope other examples of the style are better, with more flavor so I could get its point.
