Commercial Description:
Formerly known as Sebourg beer, this was rebaptized Saint Druon de Sebourg in 2000.
Malted barley and 3 varieties of hops grown in Alsace form the basis of this recipe, which, unlike Duyck’s other beers, also contains wheat from the Beauce region of France, milled in the traditional way by Sebourg’s miller. And to give it an even more distinctive flavour, the Duyck’s use a specific strain of yeast exclusive to the beer.
St. Druon de Sebourg is the French version of a blonde abbey ale, similar in style to those found across the nearby border in Belgium. It is spicy and effervescent, and much hoppier than typical bière de garde.

Bottle. Grassy barnyard and sour malt aroma. Cloudy tan color with small head. Light flavor of grass/hay and sour malt with moderate hops finish. Nice tasting - has quite a bit of hops kick but fairly light body - wish it had a stronger flavor.

Pours sunny golden with a thin foamy white head. Aroma of toasted honey malt, yeasty esters with notes of cantaloupe and apricot. Taste is lightly sweet with toasted malt graininess, some herbal bitterness, and a neutral finish. Mouthfeel is light to medium bodied with a slight stickiness. Unimpressive.

Hazy yellow hue, with no head at all, at the opening of the 750ml green bottle, a little skunky smell came out, the nose has a yeasty accent, notes of fruitiness, citrus fruits in the aroma follows through on a medim-bodied palate, with a sweet pale malt character, yeasty fruitiness note, with no carbonation, it’s like a dead beer, wet oaky wood, corky, hint of oily hops, leading towards a sweet juicy lemony and hop bittering finish.

Bottled. Amber color. A crisp version of a biere de garde. Basic wheat base with some apple fruit flavor.

On tap at the Drafting Room in Spring House. Pours a translucent golden with a small white head. The aroma was light, a little earthy with some fruitiness and spices going on. Flavors of the same maybe picking up some banana. This was very much on the watery side. Not very impressed. Was expecting more from a $5 10 ounce glass.

Pale to medium gold beer with light lacing, very aromatic, exotic even, scents of lychee, perhaps spinach, mango, grassy like a good spanish cheese (quesa de serena in particular) with a faint musty hint, also fresh bisquits or a cracker factory. Wonderful off-tart flavor with a lemon and shortbread thing goin’ on, a hint of mustard, all most light rye flavored, down to the carraway. Has biere de garde like "cellar character" but refined and clean somehow, probably a great food beer. Defies categorization but very very nice!

Best by 01/06. Clear gold. Giant, dense, rocky, white head. Nose is mostly musty yeast with some graininess and crispness. Yeast only in the finish and aftertaste as far as flavor goes. Tastes like a belgian blonde with nice hops throughout. Rich and a bit roasty. Full, smooth body. Underrated at 3.0.

750ml. corked bottle. Clear golden color with a fairly large white head. Grassy, yeasty aroma with some hops in the background. Herbal, grassy flavor with a bit of citrus and honey. Much better than I expected from the poor reviews.
