Commercial Description:
Formerly known as Sebourg beer, this was rebaptized Saint Druon de Sebourg in 2000.
Malted barley and 3 varieties of hops grown in Alsace form the basis of this recipe, which, unlike Duyck’s other beers, also contains wheat from the Beauce region of France, milled in the traditional way by Sebourg’s miller. And to give it an even more distinctive flavour, the Duyck’s use a specific strain of yeast exclusive to the beer.
St. Druon de Sebourg is the French version of a blonde abbey ale, similar in style to those found across the nearby border in Belgium. It is spicy and effervescent, and much hoppier than typical bière de garde.

75cl BBD 03/2005 Awesome heady rock of white...terra cotta copper blondish. Cork must earth sex spice. Lagerale of the highest order, the best of both worlds maybe. Malt, spice, fruit, must, bitter, alcohol. Reminds me of La Trappe Triple...but less sweetness & alcohol, plus more hops. Drinks with a slight sulfuric hint of its lager origins. Super smooth and sexy. Not sure that this would age well(that BBD is pretty accurate, I think), so look out for the bottling date.

Very average. Golden color, white head. Light nose, a bit of yeast, some spice. Flavor was similar, pretty empty. What was there wasn’t too bad, it was just too watery.

This is a good Biere de Garde. Popped the the cork and instant aroma of pumpkin seed. Light, wheat, yeast, and fruity flavor. Finishes crisp, clean and refreshing.

Deep gold color with lots of carbonation. Huge white head and decent lacing. Aroma is apples and wheat. The flavor is nice and subtle. I can see why SilkTork raved on this one. The flavors are lightly spicy, like ginger ale with notes of bread and a touch of sour cherry in the background. Excellent.

Bottle. Fresh, delicate and very yummy! Oh yes. This is the most drinkable and tasty Biere de Garde I’ve yet come across. Great mouthfeel - no nasty off flavours - no artificial carbonation flavours, no stale hop flavours, no metallic flavours, everything just tastes fresh and wow! Gentle wheat spice - not dry or overbearing, just cleanly citric and refreshing and exciting. A real feel good beer of the highest order. Did I say it tasted fresh and delicate? O yes! This is excitement. This is great. This is my beer of the month!

Sometimes seeing other people’s ratings is comforting. I mean, just knowing most of the world thinks this is as unimpressive as I do is kind of nice. Gold, thin head with decent lacing. Nose vaguely yeasty. Flavor has a bit of yeast, some spice, a hint of funk and fruit, but it’s mostly watery and empty. Thin and a mite watery. Eh.

Small white head, good retention and lace. Beautiful, clear gold color. Light malt and honey notes in the nose. Med/light body. Medium sweet malt flavors, slight mustiness with some vinous notes. finish is sweet.

Bottle at Delilah’s on Lincoln Avenue, Chicago. Got this on a whim...something small, light, simple and cheap....and it fit the bill. Bright orange, medium head; sweet orangey nose. Flavor overly sweet and a bit too yeasty, very simple, but refreshing on a slightly chilly June night in my favorite city.
