Commercial Description:
Formerly known as Sebourg beer, this was rebaptized Saint Druon de Sebourg in 2000.
Malted barley and 3 varieties of hops grown in Alsace form the basis of this recipe, which, unlike Duyck’s other beers, also contains wheat from the Beauce region of France, milled in the traditional way by Sebourg’s miller. And to give it an even more distinctive flavour, the Duyck’s use a specific strain of yeast exclusive to the beer.
St. Druon de Sebourg is the French version of a blonde abbey ale, similar in style to those found across the nearby border in Belgium. It is spicy and effervescent, and much hoppier than typical bière de garde.

Golden our with a frothy whith head and lace. Aroma of clover corriander and light pepper. First taste was stale with a little flavor of apple. A wee bit thin with good carbonation. An average beer that tastes a little better as it goes along.

750 bought at the Bayou. Pours a totally clear gold with a small white head. The aroma is fairly light; some apple, spices and crisp malt. The taste is also very light and easygoing; some apple and citrus, a soft dry finish and a handful of spices. Enjoyable.

Bottle. Aroma is mild and smooth. A few hints of wheat. Flavor is hm. Intriguing. Has a distinct flavor, that I can’t quite put my taste buds on. Tastes a bit like an Abbey Ale, only a bit lighter, less malty, and less alcohol flavour. Subtle hints of banana, pear and maybe...hmm....allspice? Coriander? Not sure on this. Pretty good though.

A solid beer overall but somewhat lacking in flavor in comparison to Belgian abbey ales.

Pretty bland. Not much in the way of flavor or aroma. Perchance you may happen upon some malt in a sunlit meadow, but verily I say to you that any thought of flavor is gone in a fleeting moment of whimsical hesitation. Sooth this is my word.

Dark gold, thin white suds. Some sesame nuttiness, metal and coriander in the nose. Quite a pleasantly dry, metallic, faintly spicy Belgian wannabe.

750ml from Once Upon a Time, Richmond. Golden to orange pour, with pretty minimal carbonation and almost no retention whatsoever. Slight diacetyl in the nose along with some pretty typical fruits and a bit of hefe character. Mouthfeel is watery, very little substantial here. A bit of grain in the taste to go with the pretty generic fruity flavors. I’m thinking this isn’t the freshest bottle, and perhaps some hop liveliness would benefit the beer.

12 oz bottle from Malt of the Earth Beer club. Pours a clear golden blond with an average sized head. Nose is a little spicey and quite malty. Taste is some wheat, pear, peach, cardomom, subtle floral hops, a little grassiness in the finish. I seem to detect even a bit of toastiness in the aftertaste. Carbonation is high and body is mediium.
