COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Formerly known as Sebourg beer, this was rebaptized Saint Druon de Sebourg in 2000.
Malted barley and 3 varieties of hops grown in Alsace form the basis of this recipe, which, unlike Duyck’s other beers, also contains wheat from the Beauce region of France, milled in the traditional way by Sebourg’s miller. And to give it an even more distinctive flavour, the Duyck’s use a specific strain of yeast exclusive to the beer.
St. Druon de Sebourg is the French version of a blonde abbey ale, similar in style to those found across the nearby border in Belgium. It is spicy and effervescent, and much hoppier than typical bière de garde.

Pours amber with a foamy white head. Aroma is citrusy and spicy along with some malt. Nice aroma with some pleasant Belgian beer notes. Taste is somewhat floral with some spice and malt. Bit of fruit and an ever so slight hint of candy sugar. Mouthfeel is very carbonated with some spice. Nice honey and flower finish! Good beer!

I really liked the aroma on this one, especially after sampling some of the world’s poorer lagers. Buttery, yeasty aroma, like a heavy wit. Good label, hazy honey gold beer with a white head. Tart, pretty bitter, with some residual cigarette flavors, along with caramel. Pretty good, initially smooth finish goes bitter.

Golden color with a white head. Aromas of earth and spice. Taste starts out sweet, with some hops, fruit, spice, and pepper. Finish is a bit bitter. Body is on the light side. Low alcohol is noticable, higher would make it better.

Clear and golden, thick creamy head, decent lacing. Perfume, herbal, floral, dusty aromas. Flavors are nice, but not as interesting as the nose - sweet smooth malts, floral hops, a soft warm hop finish. A good biere de garde

UPDATED: FEB 4, 2006 Best by 01/06. Clear gold. Giant, dense, rocky, white head. Nose is mostly musty yeast with some graininess and crispness. Yeast only in the finish and aftertaste as far as flavor goes. Tastes like a belgian blonde with nice hops throughout. Rich and a bit roasty. Full, smooth body. Underrated at 3.0.

Pours a three finger white head that fades slowly leaving a good lace. Pale cloudy amber color. Good carbonation and medium bodied. Sweet spicey nose. Has a sweet orange start, slight malty finish. Bottled Jul 2005. $1.39 for a 330ml bottle from John’s Grocery Iowa City, IA.

Cloudy amber appearance with a medium size, off white head and good lacing. Funky, yeasty aroma with fruity malts and a honeyish sweetness. Sweet malt taste, accented by crisp fruits, along with some spicyness. Tart, fairly dry finish. More appreciative of this one the 2nd time around.
