Clear amber; creamy head, 5cm. Sweet-malty nose, alcohol. Freshly baked cake, and somehow bitter nose. Taste is delicate sweet with outspoken honey-arome and some restrained acidity. Very nice balance. Very light mouthfeel - certainly from a 7% beer. Bitterness from the nose has gone. Some oxidation (biscuit- taste) in the aftertaste. A delicate beer with a delicate balance - not something for the die-hard hopheads amongst us.

Drinking this one right after getting out of bed, left almost no flavour in my mouth.

Light amber coloured with a medium head. Lovely sweet fruity aroma. The taste is bitter, slightly sour dryish. Flat.

UPDATED: FEB 10, 2004 My youth hostel in Diest had the name Den Drossaard. The picture from the label of the bottle also showed the hostel. It was nothing special. I think it was a bad idea to consume this at the breakfast.

Nice dark amber clear with large rapidly dissipating light beige head. Inviting, fresh green fruity hops, honey, caramel malt, and a faint whiff of mould that grows in damp cardboard boxes. That was the good bit - the rest was rather off - maybe this bottle was gone. Palate is thin and flat like a stale English draft, brief cider sour start, then faint sweet, then bitter with some alcohol evident. The flavour reminds me of those eye clencging Venetian aromatic apperitifs made with cheap white wine and something bitter and orange from a tiny bottle. Flavour is overall way down compared to the very interesting aroma. Disappointingly bad after such a promising start. I’m interested enough though to try it again and see if it was just this bottle.

Fruity, light citrus aroma. Dark amber coloured, large off-white frothy head, nice lace. Sweet and very fruity taste, nice hops. Long sweet finish.
