Bottle, thanks to fredrik_and Ludvig! Hazy pale golden with a small porous white head. Aroma: buttery malt with tart green apples, some funk. Taste: spices, sour, burnt plastic, some funk and lemons. On a positive note the alcohol isn’t apparent. Above medium bodied. Doesn’t work for me.

Bottle. Hazy golden colour, thin white foam. Funky aroma with notes of barnyard and vinegar. Vinous and fruity. Malty notes. Refreshing and well balanced. Good.

Keldergeest (1) - Berlin, GERMANY - FEB 10, 2015 does not count
woody, raisin, golden, hazy, minimal head, medium sourness, lightly bitter, soft carbonation, astringent. As a big fan of the constituting beer styles you ask yourself is this more than the sum of the parts? I think not. The geuze element loses some of it’s freshness and dryness and the tripel only surfaces at the very end, with an unconvincing hoppy bitterness. Tasty beer, but in the end not as good as a 3 Fonteinen geuze. Need to try the tripel used one of these days.

Bottle at the hotel. Pours mostly clear pale orange with a medium, frothy white head, medium retention with light lacing. Aroma is Pils malt, funky and farmhouse yeast, black walnut notes and light pear esters. Flavor is sweet malt, spicy and nearly fusel alcohol, earthy, barnyard, and funky yeast with pear esters, stale hops, light bitterness and a dry finish. Medium body and carbonation.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Beer & Beyond, Tel Aviv. 2012 edition, 10.6% ABV. Hazy golden with small white head, with lots of sediments. The aroma is fruity (pear, peach, grapes), a bit spicy, sweet, candy, some herbs. Very sour flavor, white wine, grapes, grapefruit, citrus peels, some graininess, very alcoholic, sour finish. Medium carbonation, medium bodied.

Wheatish yellow in color. No head. Fantastic balance between a 3 Fontein and a strong blond. Result is that you can taste both at the same time without any one overpowering (not very sour, not very hoppy). A very different taste experience for sure.

Pours pale yellow with no head. Aroma is sour 3 fonteinen geuze, really dominating. Taste is very, very balanced. The sour of the gueuze lacks a little bit bit it’s still very very good.

Bottle. 2012. Nose is is wet oak, slight barnyard, a touch of sour leading to light toffee. Cheese and very faint white chocolate . Taste vinegar, and vinous notes lead, before the emergence of the blond giving beer, giving straw, dry dusty farmyard yeast and the finish, a flash of sour green apples then is richly oak, white grape and a dry sour. The mouthfeel is not quite right, a little watery. The beer is a strange mix, which works surprisingly well, with the tastes coming in pleasing waves rather than blending or clashing.
