Bottle, vintage 2012. APPEARANCE: clouded blond beer, small stable white head. NOSE: sour, brett, fruity, horse blanket, little hay, some citrus, wood. TASTE: sour, dry and bitter aftertaste, brett, funky like 3F should be, some alcohol warming. Very weird beer in every way... Will this age nicely? Looking forward finding out

2007 vintage... Thanks Bryan! Pours a yellow orange color with no head. Smells of hay, lemon, and funk. Taste is bright lemon and cheesy funk. Tingly tart, no carbonation. Alcohol well hidden.

Thanks to myself for buying this 37.5cl bottle. Nice hay and lemony notes. Not particularly tart but a little funky. Delicious beer.

From a 33 cl bottle shared at the March 2014 DC RB gathering. Pours a cloudy gold with an off white head. Funky tart nose. Flavors of spicy applesauce. Smooth, tart finish.

Bottle at home with friends, courtesy of Armin. Thanks ma!. Pour is clear golden with a frothy white head and great lacing. Funky, slightly spicy, lemony, biscuity, grassy, citrus, and doughy aroma. Taste is grassy, lemon peel, fruity, light biscuit, straw, barnyard, and lactic with a lightly tart finish. Medium body with soft carbonation. Interesting stuff.

Bottle @ Steve_0’s palace, courtesy of Armin. Thanks! A bit hazy, yellow, a touch orangish appearance with a white head. Fairly funky, cheesy nose. Cobwebs. A bit acetic. Sort of tastes like a Chow Mein / bready flavor. Lemony. Lightly sour. Really not a fan.

2012 bottle poured a clean golden color with a thin coating of white head that retained a ring on the glass. Aroma has 3 Fonteinen house character on the acidic side, light lemon, barrel wood, and a bit of the tripel sweet malt in the background. Mouth feel is much more full than a geuze and the carbonation low though it is not flat. Flavor is where the real head spin starts when you are greeted by the 11% abv. Sweet tripel malts are put against the sharp acidity with some yeasty funk layered in. The flavor is so far from what the nose had led on. This is oddly crushing in strength but then the acidity sets in with big earthy notes. I guess this is the barley wine of geuze.

Really cloudy beer, citron yellow color with fast disappearing white head. Smell of citrus fruits and flower. Slight bitter flavour with really dry after-taste. Not really my style but its nice and definately something special. When expecting a really sour geuze-based beer this is refreshingly good.

Bottle at home, from Etre Gourmet, 10.6% 2012 vintage, 22/01/14. Hazed orange with a good sized white head. Nose is dank wood, bitter orange, tarte lemon rind, hint of smoke, dank notes, light metallic rinse. Taste comprises light booze, bitter orange, lemon rind, tarte fruit skins, dank notes, musty wood, citric tinged straw, mature apples. Medium bodied, soft carbonation - well pitched, drying closure laced with booze and filled with tarte and sour fruit skins. Interesting sour/wild, the booze is evident at times, but not 10.6% evident however not a huge amount of complexity to go with the ABV. I’d take this one again though!

This is a 2012 bottle acquired in Belgium allowed to sit upright for almost a year in my cellar.

A - Gorgeous golden honey, light 1 finger creamy head. Bubbles remind me of a gueuze. very champagne like qualities.

S - The smell is good. Smells like a lemon lime yogurt jonge lambic with a bright citrus earthy aroma and minor barnyard funk.

T - Damn...it tastes pretty bad. Acidic, vinegar, sour apples, old moldy berries, dactyl and banana runt candies with cloves and a dry finish. Darnit, this is just downright terrible.

M - Dry and funky

O - The smell was so nice. I can’t give this more than a 2 for taste
