Definitely not a hop monster, but that’s your typical bitter for you. Sweet with some off flavors--true to the English tradition of trying to figure out how to make a bitter "work". (On tap at The Monk’s Kettle, San Francisco)

I prefer this to the hop candi beer. Initial aroma is a bit soapy but the flavor is mostly restrained British bitter. I would order this one again. Dome sweetness but primarily a malt showcase.

On nitro tap. Pours with a nitro-milky tan head over a completely clear bronze body. Aromas are toasty, bready and grainy with some light fruit esters and caramel. Flavors are bready, estery, caramel and toasty. Very minimal bitterness. Creamy mouthfeel, a touch watery. Easy to drink.

On tap at Beer Revolution. Clear amber in color with an off-white head that fades to swirls. Aroma is very mild with black tea and herbal notes. The flavor has sweet caramel malt, English breakfast tea, and herbs. Medium-light body with softer carbonation. Overall a little weird, but decent.

Sampled on tap at Beer Revolution on 2/19/2011. This bitter pours a medium orange gold color from the tap. Medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is caramel, fruity, sweet, touch of vegetable and very faintly something that is close to dirty socks. A medium bodied bitter. The malts are caramel, fruity and bready. The hops are herbal. Good carbonation. Something is not quite right with this beer, there is also a touch of celery and some diacetyl. When a lower ABV beer goes bad it’s a little more noticeable. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

Clear golden with no head. Sweet caramel and a good citrus hops nose. Semi dry slightly bitter earthy citrus taste. Not bad.

Draft. Amber beer with a cream colored head. Malt and light biscuity aroma. Light malt and slight grain flavor with light grassiness. Medium-light bodied. Light grain and light woodsiness lingers.

Tap at Beer Revolution. Pours dark brown. It’s fruity and perhaps a tad floral. Some roast malt behind the hop, but it’s bitter!
