This is our American take on the German Hefeweizen. Unlike most hefes, you wont get a bunch of fruit and spice masking the true flavor of the beer. Unfiltered, yet clean, crisp and refreshing with just enough hop bitterness to skip the lemon wedge.

On tap at E.J Phair Concorde pub. A hazy orangey yellow beer with a small, white head. The aroma is weak, with pale malts, some tropical fruits and wheat hints. Fruity flavor with some malty sweetness. Sweet orange and some melon. Medium body, a tad flat. Short fruity finish. Overall, quite boring, but with refreshing qualities. 130807

Draft. A hazy light yellow beer with a thin lazing white head. The aroma has notes of wheat combined with a lighter note of straw. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of lemon, medium notes of wheat, and light notes of plastic, leading to a dry wheaty finish. The body is light.

(tasted 3/14/08 going through some old ratings of EJ Phair since it looks like they are not brewing anymore.) The wheat was really pronounced. A strong metallic taste was the main flavor though. Rough to finish, this wasn’t good at all.

Tap at the brewpub. Hazy straw color, thin white head. No nose to speak of. Taste isn’t pleasant at first but softens. Grassy/corriander flavors in the mouth. The aftertaste is better than the beer itself.

Daft. Golden beer with a white head. Light malt aroma with a bit of citrus and wheat. Citrus and malt flavor with a little wheat and more citrusy hops than you’d expect. Medium-light bodied. refreshing. Hops and malt linger with some wheat.
