Draft. An unclear golden beer with a lazing beige head. The aroma has notes of lemon as well as a lighter note of hops. The flavor is sweet with notes of hops and citrus fruits, nicely hopped, leading to a dry grassy finish.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
UPDATED: AUG 11, 2009 Tap at the ’09 Bistro IPA Fest in Hayward, CA. Now I don’t like to take a crap on a beer like this (I prefer the toilet), but this was the biggest disappointment of the fest for me. Cloudy straw color with a white head. Aroma of grainy malt and mild citrus hops. Flavor similarly grainy with a little citrus. Dry palate with light-medium body.

1.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 4/20
Arrived headless and flat. Bad flavors of metal and other crap. Checked with the bartender and she said it was not the end of the keg and that everything was fine with it. She offered to toss it and pour me something else which I gladly accepted. Its score is really a .5 but I still think something went horribly wrong with the tap or lines or something, so I’ll get it an extra point because EJ Phair makes much better beer than this.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a foggy pale mustard gold color with a thin white head. Not a particularly attractive beer. Nose is light pine hops with grapefruit and lemon like citrus. The flavor is better, with those influences in the nose balanced by some mellow caramel maltiness. Decent subtle bitter finish with dryness.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Draft. Slightly hazy amber beer with a very-nice off-white head. Grapefruit and light pine aroma. Grapefruit/summer fruit flavor. Medium bodied. Lingering grapefruit/summer fruit. Finishes dry. medium bitterness to style. Very drinkable. Starts to get a little tannic/twiggy because of a low malt backing.
