Apparently this beer contains smoked malt although I could not detect any of it. Very dark brown with no head. Some chocolate and coffe on the nose but very middle of the road. In the mouth the beer felt a bit puckering and astringent for reasons unknown to me. Not a bad beer, in fact it is quite OK.... it just didnt do it for me at all, many better porters out there for less $$$

Sample at Eagle Heights brewery. Pours dark brown with a creamy beige head. Rich malty aroma of chocolate, coffee, dark fruit and smoke. The flavour is dark chocolate, coffee, dark fruit and smoke. Smooth mouthfeel and a good malt backbone. Smooth and bitter finish. A very nice porter.

Very low carbonation style. Works ok I guess. Probably more robustly flavoured than many offerings, at least the mainstream styles. Some dusty chocolate on the nose and hints of roast. Chocolate comes through quite strongly in the palate but I think the very low fizz levels helps this. Some mild astringenyc as well. Not a bad effort for a genere that is hard to get excited about.
