This strong black ale uses the same ingredients as Solidarity, but packs a much larger punch! This winter warmer features a smooth rich flavor and mouthfeel make it the perfect way to celebrate this occasion.

Bottle... Poured deep, dark brownish red. Nice roast and toastiness going on here. Some cocoa nibs as well. Smooth and nuanced. With a hint of coffee and grains to keep it grounded.

Tap at Brew-Ligion. Rating #11. Nice stuff, light roast with a little chocolate and pretty damn drinkable considering the alcohol. (2648)

A - Pours a dark brown with a bit of ruby around the edges and a finger of frothy chocolate colored head. The head fades down fairly slowly leaving behind some lacing. S - Aroma is a mix of roasted dark chocolate malts with some coffee, prune and other dark fruits, English yeast, vanilla, and a bit of booze. T - Starts off with some roasted milk chocolate malts with some raisin, prune, and other dark fruits and a bit of coffee. Through the middle, some strong coffee and roasted dark chocolate comes through with some vanilla and some English yeast notes. The finish is a mix of roasted chocolate malts, dark fruits, fruity English yeast, and a bit of booze. M - Medium-full bodied with moderate carbonation. Feels smooth with a sweet and warming finish. D - Very drinkable. Nicely balanced with the chocolate and dark fruit flavors working well together.

Bottle from the brewery. Pours a very dark brown, tan head. Aroma is very roasty and has lots of nice chocolate covered coffee beans. Flavor is dry, roasty, cocoa, coffee. Drinks kind of like an imperial stout and kind of like a black IPA. Damn good.

Poured up on tap at beer rev. with dark body supporting a mocha colored ring of foam. The aroma is big with malt sweetened and molasses sweetened oily dark roasted coffee as well as some earthy wet cigar tobacco, a bit of chocolate malts and some dark roasted malts. Smells pretty nice. The taste is sweet with malts and molasses and then rolls into coffee, chocolate and more sugary sweetness. It sort of takes on a vanilla like note here and there too. Overall the malts and other notes don’t balance out the load of sweetness. It lingers for a while with dark roasted coffee.

A nearly black pour with a big khaki head. An interesting aroma. Has a hint of banana to go with lots of roast, dark fruits, and cola. There’s a hint of burnt sugar. Plenty of sugar along with a fair amount of roast and perhaps a touch of smoke. A little bit of banana and raisin, maybe some hints of chocolate and vanilla as well. Not bad.

Bottle courtesy of BMan1113VR (thanks Andrew) poured a clear dark reddish brown with a lingering ring of tan foam. Aromas of carmel, toffee, cola, light spice and light fruittiness. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of cocoa, carmel, coffee, earthiness, smoke and light roastiness with a smooth lingering earthy finish.
