3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 ekoerper (369) - Iowa, USA - SEP 14, 2011
Tap at the brewery. Aroma is citrusy, plenty of coriander, some orange and light wheat malt. Pours a light straw color with average white head, average retention. Flavor is coriander, faint orange, wheat, a faint tartness sneaks in at the end of the taste and lingers for a bit. Light body, average carbonation, a nice wit overall.

On tap at the brewery. Cloudy yellow, smallish head. Coriander nose. Coriander and wheaty fruit flavours. Good, but a bit too heavy on the coriander.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 womencantsail (3929) - Home of Rebecca Black, California, USA - FEB 21, 2010
A: Manifesto is a hazy, light golden color with a fluffy white head. There are tons of little carbonation bubbles.
S: A lot of citrus, particularly lemon and orange, yeast, and a bit of spice. There is also a nice bready quality to the aroma.
T: Much the same as the nose. A very refreshing hit of lemon, followed by the more hearty spice, bread, and yeast flavors. There’s also a bit of tartness to this that I wasn’t expecting.
M: The beer is very bubbly which gives it a nice light feel on the tongue. Quite enjoyable.
D: This is probably the easiest drinking witbier I’ve had. Nice and light but still some strong flavors. The slight tartness was reminiscent of a Berliner Weiss, but not quite to the same degree.
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 ajm (1057) - Los Angeles, California, USA - JAN 4, 2010
Tap at Verdugo. This was good. Nose of tart yeast, maybe a little bacteria, clean wheat. Color is a hazy yellow. Flavor is tart like a Wit or a Weiss, but with a nice light fruit tinge at the end - peach is what I thought at the time. Has enough character to be taken seriously.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 BMan1113VR (6519) - Los Angeles, California, USA - DEC 31, 2009
On tap. Pours with a hazy golden tinged body with a white ring of foam. Aroma of orange peel, lemon, coriander, white pepper. Bone dry with a hint of goosberries. Taste is grainy with coriander, citrus and dry, spicy notes. Fine, yet fizzy bubbles.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 iowaherkeye (2506) - Ocean Beach, San Diego, California, USA - DEC 27, 2009
On tap @ Blue Palms. Served in a tulip, hazy light straw with a short-lived 1/2 finger white head, down to a ring and minimal film. Nose seems more like a banana-y here. There is also some florals, hints of orange (though I’m not sure they used any), and some lift vanilla. Flavor pulls a more convincing witbier White stronger citrus and floral notes and light lemon tang. There’s also light white pepper and some herbal notes. Semi-dry wheat finish, minimal bitterness. Low prickly carbonation with a light body. Turned out better than I thought.
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 can8ianben (1102) - Souderton, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 18, 2009
Aroma of banana and lemon with just a hint of floral petals (apparently rose petals are added to the spice mix). Hazy yellow color with a frothy white head. Tastes like sunshine! While it was served a touch too cold, as it warmed the spice notes came out - cloves, peel, etc. Tight carbonation and a nice sweet finish. The brewery claimed this beer is on tap to showcase the way yeast works in a beer.
I’m excited to see what else comes from this new brewery!
