COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our interpretation of the West Coast IPA is well-balanced and huge in hop flavor and aroma without overpowering bitterness. A blend of hop varietals yields tropical fruit aromatics that give way to flavors of grapefruit and pine. The balancing malt presence brings out a bready character and light caramel undertones that lay the foundation to showcase the hops. Welcome to the endless West-Coast Summer!

Bottle. Pours lightly hazy butterscotch with a large off-white head that slowly dissipates with very nice lacing. Aroma is pine resin, citrus, light caramel. Flavor is about the same with a very light sweetness and a light to medium bitter hops presence with a bitter finish. Not a bad beer at all.

Bomber. Pours a hazy straw with no head. Grapefruit aroma and flavor, pine and malt. Not bad but it’s put together a bit sloppy.

Bomber from Bine & Vine. Pours light gold with a frothy near white head. Aromas of citrus and resin. Med body. Flavor is citrus/resin with a phenolic touch. There’s a mild caramel backbone. This is a strongly flavored beer!

Nice, slightly hazy amber and copper coloured body with a nice, two centimetre tall just off-white head. Aroma of fresh grassy and citrus hops with a bit of pineapple, resin and a hint of alcohol noticeable as well. Medium-bodied; Strong assertive grassy and herbal hops with a very potent and nice malt backbone, a lot of resin and a dry, almost oaky flavour. Aftertaste shows some alcohol, tons of malt, some herbal and dry notes and a lot of hops - very bitter, but very nice. Overall, this is a very nice IPA and definitely worth trying if you can find it! I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Hi-Time Wine Cellars in Costa Mesa, California on 05-August-2012 for US$5.77 sampled at home in Washington on 04-November-2012.

Aroma is mellow - grassy hops with some citrus, kind of a light-struck characteristic going on despite the brown bottle, low-profile malt notes and slightly bready. Pours a very clear light golden color, white head with average retention, good lacing. Flavor - fairly bitter, fruity hops, a touch of resin, light cereal grains. Light-medium body, medium carbonation. Not my favorite of Eagle Rock’s brews, but decent.

Strong dank, grassy, skunky hop aroma rises off a slightly hazy, pale yellow body with a thin white head. The hop aroma follows to the taste with a spicy, bitter bite and a light smokiness that grips the tongue and doesn’t let go. This evolves into more of a grapefruit bitterness as it moves over the tongue. There’s a decent toast/biscuit malt background with just enough sweetness to keep the hops from getting ridiculous, but just barely. Finishes with earthy, spicy bitterness and a lasting smokiness. This IPA is actually a bit better when cold (I usually like them a bit more cellar temp). This is definitely a West Coast IPA which could benefit from a bit more malt backbone, but is still a great example of the style and mighty tasty.

22 oz. bottle from BevMo (Mission Valley, SD) - Pours a hazy golden color with a one and a quarter finger thick off white head. Aroma is big pine, citrus, and resin hops. Light tiny spotted lacing. Flavor is floral and citrus hops with a lightly sweetened toasted malt background. Finish is fairly smooth and not too bitter. A nice IPA

Bright orange pour with about a finger of foamy white head. Citrus nose with slight hints of grapefruit. Medium light body, much more malty than I would think, with some tropical fruit hop notes on the finish. Good starter IPA for non hop fans
