Our interpretation of the West Coast IPA is well-balanced and huge in hop flavor and aroma without overpowering bitterness. A blend of hop varietals yields tropical fruit aromatics that give way to flavors of grapefruit and pine. The balancing malt presence brings out a bready character and light caramel undertones that lay the foundation to showcase the hops. Welcome to the endless West-Coast Summer!

poured from a 22 oz. bomber into a tulip glass, it is a hazy, cloudy almost opaque yellow-orange with a nice head. It’s labeled a "West Coast IPA"... Not sure what make it west coast other than the fact that it’s brewed in LA. At first I thought it had similarities to many other IPA’s: nice citrus aroma, generous head, a touch of bitterness. What makes this IPA different is the amount of biscuit malt flavor it has. Yes, there are the expected grapefruit and pine hop notes, but this has way more malted barley presence than any other IPA I have had in recent memory.

Golden orange with a slight haze, two-finger off-white head and sheets of lace. Aromas of some pine and herbal hops, citrus and a hint of spice. Resinous pine up front, some citrus, and herbal hops all offset with a caramel malt base. Medium to full body, gentle carbonation, creamy smooth mouthfeel and a clean crisp finish.

I had a sample of this at the brewery last night and took home a 4 pack of cans. In a BJ’s Hefeweizen glass this pours gold with big head and lace. Aroma of grapefruit juice, hay, grains. Medium carbonation and mouthfeel. Flavors of rich grains, bright malts, pine, white grapefruit rind, pepper, citrus zest. Overall big, rich, bold but quite flavorful.

Clear gold, sudsy white head. Standard West coast IPA aroma, thin resin. Nice on the palate, a nice sweetness in the finish which balances it well. I’ll take it.

Draft at social brewery during the eagle rock tap takeover. A dull golden coloured pour a lasting thin white head. Aroma is nice tropical fruit salad, mango and Mellon, orange rind. Palate is semi sweet, medium light, little sticky hop, moderate carbonation. Flavour is composed of tropical fruit hops, citrus. Mango, orange, little burnt nelson sauvin type character. Good IPA.

(En fût au Public House): Un corps musclé, généreux de ses sucres et protéines céréalières et un profil sapiné tranchant. Peu complexe et moelleux.

Draft sample. Poured clear orange copper color with an average frothy off-white head that lasted with excellent lacing. Moderate complex citrus hop and small sweet malt aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Moderate complex bittersweet flavor with a moderate bittersweet finish of medium duration. Good complex brew.

4oz on tap at Hopgeist. Clear golden orange color. Great half-finger of off-white head. Good thicker lace. Medium-plus body, with a smooth, creamy lighter to moderate carbonation. Kind of crisp. Biscuity bready malt, some pepper and citrus and pine. Lighter to moderate sweet taste, moderate to bigger bitter. Solid, hoppy IPA, but some interesting kinda sweet malt to it too.

Draft. Pours gold with a white head. Plain flowery hops, relatively light bitterness, light sweetness, and a quick floral hoppy finish. Nothing offensive, but in the world of IPAs, really nothing special either.
