4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
If you can get your hands on a pint of the IPA from Eagle Rock, I highly recommend Populist.
Delicious pine and citrus notes with a little fresh marijuana thrown in.
Taste is like the small and the mouthfeel is perfect for a sessionable 7% beer.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Had this one on-tap at Tony’s Darts Away in Burbank on 3/12/12.
A full-to-the-brim pint, just like I like it. A thin sheet of white lace caps off this transparent golden-orange brew. The aroma is so sweet and floral, it takes effort to pull my nose out of this one. Big citrus overtones. Love it. The mouthfeel is crisp, yet filling. A really rich velvety finish. The hops on this one don’t shy away from bitter, but there is a really nice sweet balance to them as well. Sweet candy-like finish. Lot’s of citrus pervades this one - orange, grapefruit, tangerine. Really lush flavorful hops were used in this one, and the brewers did a standout job putting this one together.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Nice, slightly hazy amber and copper coloured body with a nice, two centimetre tall just off-white head. Aroma of fresh grassy and citrus hops with a bit of pineapple, resin and a hint of alcohol noticeable as well. Medium-bodied; Strong assertive grassy and herbal hops with a very potent and nice malt backbone, a lot of resin and a dry, almost oaky flavour. Aftertaste shows some alcohol, tons of malt, some herbal and dry notes and a lot of hops - very bitter, but very nice. Overall, this is a very nice IPA and definitely worth trying if you can find it! I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Hi-Time Wine Cellars in Costa Mesa, California on 05-August-2012 for US$5.77 sampled at home in Washington on 04-November-2012.

Might be my favorite ER offering. Brilliant citrus aroma of grapefruit and oranges. All about the hops with a dry bitter finish. Brilliant hop profile bursting from a frothy white head on an orange-amber color. Awesome. Beer for the people!

Tap at Eagle Rock. Pours a clear orange, huge formation, thick lacing. Nose is excellent grapefruit, pine, and resin. Very fresh. Taste is rich toffee, caramel, grapefruit. Creamy, dense palate. Chewy. Butterscotch and pine resin through the finish. An excellent West Coast IPA. Very good.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
A - Pours a slightly hazy golden-orange with a finger of frothy white head. The head fades down at a normal pace leaving behind some nice lacing.
S - Aroma is a mix of grapefruit, orange, other citrus, and pine hops with sweet caramel malts and a bit of breadiness.
T - Starts off with a mix of grapefruit, orange, and other citrus hops with some bitterness and some sweet caramel malts. Through the middle, some pine hops come through with some more bitterness alongside a bit of bready malts. The finish is a mix of grapefruit and pine hops with some bitterness and some sweet bready malts.
M - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Feels smooth with a dry and bitter finish.
D - Very drinkable. Good hop profile and bitterness and good overall balance.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Strong dank, grassy, skunky hop aroma rises off a slightly hazy, pale yellow body with a thin white head. The hop aroma follows to the taste with a spicy, bitter bite and a light smokiness that grips the tongue and doesn’t let go. This evolves into more of a grapefruit bitterness as it moves over the tongue. There’s a decent toast/biscuit malt background with just enough sweetness to keep the hops from getting ridiculous, but just barely. Finishes with earthy, spicy bitterness and a lasting smokiness. This IPA is actually a bit better when cold (I usually like them a bit more cellar temp). This is definitely a West Coast IPA which could benefit from a bit more malt backbone, but is still a great example of the style and mighty tasty.
