COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our interpretation of the West Coast IPA is well-balanced and huge in hop flavor and aroma without overpowering bitterness. A blend of hop varietals yields tropical fruit aromatics that give way to flavors of grapefruit and pine. The balancing malt presence brings out a bready character and light caramel undertones that lay the foundation to showcase the hops. Welcome to the endless West-Coast Summer!

A great trader sent me this beer. Stuck it in the fridge, poured into a Hill Farmstead glass. No brew date on the bottle.

A - SRM of 7, 1 finger head creamy bubbles, decent head lacing

S - Very distant hop profile, i’m smelling peaches, lemon zest and a bit of sharp cheddar. There’s some tropical fruits like banana and pineapple.

T - Not great. Like a flat and old cream soda. No hop profile at all, a minor bit of pine but really very distant.

M - 50/50 carbonation on the mouth swish. Spoiling aftertaste like old pumpkin pie.

O - Not great. Drain pour.

Amber in color, clear with a thin head. This was with decent hops forward aroma. Lots of fruity flavor grapefruit and pine. Interesting brew to say the least.

$5.99 22oz bomber, no date from Olive Tree Market in OB. Glad to see these guys are bottling now. Visited them a few times right when they opened. Clear amber orange with a creamy 1/2 finger off-white head, fading to a thick ring and film before long, but then hanging around a while. Pretty weak aroma of some sweaty citrus Cascade hops and a tinge of pine, biscuit malts are present, but again, weak. Doesn’t smell old, just weak. Flavor has some biscuit and light toasted malt, and low flavor/aroma hops. Substantial bitterness midway through to the finish peaked at an 8 or so. No way that malt backbone can stand up to that much bitterness. Ugh, so bitter! Just a tinge of caramel sweetness noted as well, which did show up in the aroma a little as it warmed. Dry finish, alcohol masked well. Smooth medium body with low prickly carbonation. The malts and palate (and appearance) were A-OK for me, but the hops were every sort of wrong for me, which, unfortunately for an American IPA, is most of the point of the style.

Had this one on-tap at Tony’s Darts Away in Burbank on 3/12/12. A full-to-the-brim pint, just like I like it. A thin sheet of white lace caps off this transparent golden-orange brew. The aroma is so sweet and floral, it takes effort to pull my nose out of this one. Big citrus overtones. Love it. The mouthfeel is crisp, yet filling. A really rich velvety finish. The hops on this one don’t shy away from bitter, but there is a really nice sweet balance to them as well. Sweet candy-like finish. Lot’s of citrus pervades this one - orange, grapefruit, tangerine. Really lush flavorful hops were used in this one, and the brewers did a standout job putting this one together.

650 ml bottle from Bev4less. Pours a clear copper color with a medium off-white head that has good retention. The nose features oranges, grapefruit and caramel. The taste has abundant bitter grapefruit, some limes, oranges and caramel malts. The palate is silky smooth, but just a tad thin and the carbonation is lively. Finishes somewhat short with the flavors trailing off. Overall: I was a bit disappointed with this, I have higher expectations of a IPA for a Socal brewery. The nose was good, flavor was good; but the taste had occasional harsh bitterness, and the finish was unsatisfying. I’m probably not gonna buy this again when I can get Sculpin, Nelson and Duet for about the same price. Perhaps that is an unfair comparison, but that is reality.

Clear amber color with ivory sheen. Nice floral, pine, pale malt aromas. Medium bodied. Floral, tropical fruit flavors in a solid malty base brew--good

A: The pour is a slightly cloudy golden amber with a fluffy white head. S; Smells nice and citrusy with lots of floral and spicy hops. A fair amount of bready malts along with some light pine and toffee sweetness. Not an overly impressive aroma, but decent. T: The nose starts off with light citrus hop notes and a moderate caramel and toffee sweetness. Floral hops and some spicy hop notes as well. There is only a little bit of bitterness on the finish. M: Both the body and carbonation are medium. O: This is a pretty good beer, but it’s not an amazing beer.

Draft. Orange pour, frothy white head. Citrusy, bitter hops, a little tropical, a little fruity, and some balancing malt. Standard IPA, I have no complaints. Would drink it again.
