3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Short: A highly successful ’blonde coffee stout’
Origin: 651mL Sample: 6oz Glass: Reidel Razor Stemless Tulip Price: Gift Date: 1/19/14
Long: DedicatedToFun hooks it up with a non garbage tick. Pours a clear orange amber, thick yellowish head. Okay retention. Nose is really beautiful macadamia nut, vanilla latte, white chocolate mousse, coffee creme brulee. Assertive and enticing. Taste is juicy up front, spicy coffee, macadamia nut, mocha/frappaccino. Really good.
Flaws: Not a Belgian ale, plus no one is going to buy a ’Belgian amber’- what is this Kwak?
Remedy: Just call it blonde coffee stout like everyone else

Wow. A coffee amber. And it's LOADED with coffee, both the nose and flavor. Crazy. And good.

On tap at the brewery, pours amber with low head, aroma is light belgian spice and malt with heavy coffee notes. Coffee dominates the beer with a great balanced finish.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft at Kern River Brewing (they called it ER Belgian Amber coffee) Nose is lots of dark coffee and roast with a bit of sweet candisugar but the coffee dominates (or from the name stimulates). Clear copper orange with a small offwhite head. Flavor is black dark roasted coffee, a hint of bitterness and contrasting sweetness. Finishes with a hint of roasty smoky coffee.

Pours amber in color with a finger of off-white head. Very intense coffee aroma with an espresso and coffee ground character. A little toast and roast, Not much else. The flavor is also dominated by the coffee, but there is a strong sugar note, too, almost burnt sugar. Weird.

Mostly clear amber pour, whitish head. Aroma? Coffee, coffee and coffee! Maybe a hint of caramel. Flavor is loaded with an nice dose of coffee, caramel and a bit of an apple note. Enjoyed at the Bruery Provisions.

Tap. Rating #5. Clear medium amber pour with a nice white head. Aroma ias all roasted coffee, can’t pick anything out of it except that. Flavor is similar with the exception being a little smoke in the aftertaste. Not a coffee fan, but this is pretty good. (1978)

On tap. Belgian Ale? Not so much. Pours with a hazed golden to orange body with a lasting off-white head. Aromas are big time roasty with some light, slightly dank hops. Biscuity, fresh coffee. A hint grassy. Very different. Flavors are malty, bready, warm. Light coffee and a mild bitterness. A few stray esters. Nice, just coffee, no roast astringency. Medium bubbles. Finishes dry. Very nice.
